"I don't apologize for exposing abuses against citizens made under color of authority. Think of it--the official Brady position is to oppose citizen oversight of criminal actions by those in government. Anyone who characterizes that as a 'denigrat[ion]' is quite simply and demonstrably a police state-enabling liar."

"We all know people who have an irrational bias against guns. Despite all the evidence they are presented with that gun owners are safe and responsible and that guns save more lives in the hands of the good guys than cause harm in the hands of criminals, they still hold on to a strong aversion." ...

"Columbuslocalnews.com is reporting that Ohio's most rabidly anti-gun organization has begun staging prayer vigils to remind the community of the ravages of homicides and violent crime."

"The Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence ... has a long and sorry history of dancing in the blood of murder victims. Their tactic of staging prayer vigils reaches a new low, as it exploits the family members and friends of homicide victims for political gain. Trotting out the victim's family after a homicide is the lowest form of political propaganda, and preys on people when they are at their most vulnerable."

If Toby's group waited until the family left for the funeral and robbed the house, it would show the same lack of basic decency ..." ...

"An October 19, 2009 article in the Washington Times examined federal health agencies that have spent millions of taxpayer dollars to study gun 'safety.' According to the article, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is currently financing research 'to investigate whether having many liquor stores in a neighborhood puts people at greater risk of getting shot.' ..." ...

"Certainly, more liquor stores are operated in neighborhoods where residents are poor because they are consumers who tend to generate brisk business ... These liquor stores are also magnets for armed robberies. So the NIH will attempt to discover whether or not more crimes are committed in these low-income neighborhoods that play host to liquor stores." ...

"The outcome of a long-awaited lawsuit filed Oct. 28 against the City of Seattle and Mayor Greg Nickels to overturn the city's illegal gun ban could have national implications because several other states have modeled their firearms preemption laws after the Washington State statute that is at the center of the Seattle case."

"The lawsuit, filed by the Second Amendment Foundation, National Rifle Association, Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, Washington Arms Collectors and five individual citizens, was filed in King County Superior Court. ..."

"... [I]magine this scenario: You know that the right thing to do is to return your friend's gun to him or her if you have taken it. But should you return it if you know that person is mentally unstable and would use it against others?"

"I'm betting that most people would say no, and with good reason. Even though the Second Amendment guarantees the right to bear arms, in reality, not everyone has the right to gun ownership – the background check is a mechanism to prevent guns from falling into the wrong hands."

"It's a simple enough concept ..."

"The background check is basically non-existent at events like gun shows – forums where private sellers convene for a great American pastime: lusting after guns." ...

"A man in the St. Louis area has been robbing women at gunpoint--four of them, just last week." ...

"The good news is that he seems--so far--to be willing to satisfy himself with robbery, rather than committing other, even more heinous, attacks. The other good news is that Missouri is, and has been since 2003, a 'shall issue' state--citizens who meet the requirements for issuance of a permit to carry a defensive handgun cannot be denied that permit, by some arbitrary, capricious whim of the issuing authority. St. Louis tried to defy the 2003 law, and refuse to issue the permits, but in 2005, was forced to comply with the law." ...
