A Patriot's Creed

by Mike King
king@georgetown.edu

I am a FREE Citizen of these United States of America.

I am a member of the Unorganized Militia of the United States of America.
Authorized: Section 8 U. S. Constitution Clause 16

I believe in the Constitution of the United States of America
AND
The Bill of Rights of the People of the United States.

Amendments one through ten

•  I believe that everyone; Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim has a right to their religious beliefs. I will defend their right to exercise that belief when, where, and how they wish without interference of any government official.

•  I believe in the right of a free people to free speech, to peaceably assemble, and to petition the Government.

•  I believe that the press must remain free in order for this country to also remain free. It is the responsibility of THE PEOPLE to ensure that the press remains honest and not a tool of the Government.

•  I believe in the right of a free people to “Keep and Bear Arms” as defined in the Second Amendment of the Peoples Bill of Rights. This right protects ALL other rights and is not about Hunting. It is about the protection of Life and Liberty from criminals, both in and out of Government.

•  I believe in the right of a free people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable (or violent) searches and seizures. This includes the right to be free from attack by Government Para-Military “police” that are better armed and trained than our Military Forces.

The U. S. Constitution

And

The Peoples Bill of Rights

I will defend WITH MY LIFE.

“I will defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and Domestic.”

-- The oath taken by all members of the U. S. Military forces upon entry into service.

“And that the said Constitution be never construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the Press, or the rights of Conscience; or to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms.”

-- Samuel Adams, Debates & Proceedings in the Convention of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, 86-87 (February 6, 1788).

“Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect every one who approaches that jewel.  Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined.

-- Patrick Henry, 3 Elliot, Debates at 45 (Virginia Convention, June 5, 1788).

God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... what country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms... The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. It is it's natural manure.

-- Thomas Jefferson to William S. Smith on Nov. 13, 1787. The Papers of Thomas Jefferson, ed. Julian P. Boyd, vol. 12, p. 356 (1955).

“I ask, Who are the militia? They consist now of the whole people, except a few public officers.”

-- George Mason, 3 Elliot, Debates at 425-426, June 16, 1788.
