Divide and Conquer
is a tool the anti freedom crowd uses very well…. Women Against Gun Control For me, freedom is a very important ideal. That’s why fighting to protect and
preserve our Second Amendment is so very important. It is the Second Amendment
that protects all of our other freedoms. Although, I didn’t realize it at the
time, I became interested in the Second Amendment as a child. No, not through
reading schoolbooks. It was a real life experience that taught me what freedom
was and the fact that freedom is indeed NOT free... I lost a good friend in the Vietnam War. I was blessed back in 1977 with a husband and freedom lover who loved to shoot
and hunt. He also loved me enough to take the time to teach me how to defend
myself. I got active in the RKBA with NRA, CSG, GOA, WAGC, SAS, MothersArms, SAF,
CCRKBA, and JPFO. After being actively involved in the RKBA movement for over 20 years,
I’ve seen too much division in our ranks…. One such division is between law
enforcement and gunowners. The anti freedom "Let’s Disarm America"
crowd wants the public to believe that ALL
Law Enforcement Officers are anti self-defense, anti freedom. This just is not
true! The fact IS that there is more pro freedom law enforcement officers in this country than the anti freedom crowd cares for us to know about.
These are the rank and file officers who put their lives on the line EVERY
SINGLE day working the streets. These are the officers that know that a
law-abiding gunowner may some day save their lives or may in some way aid them
in capturing a criminal. These are the officers that know that it’s the criminal
that commits acts of violence, NOT lifeless inanimate objects. These are the
officers that know that they have no constitutional duty to protect citizens
(yet these are the very ones you’ll find out there protecting you – all day,
every day), and that even if they did they couldn’t protect each and every
individual 24/7. The anti freedom folks, along with their friends in the main stream news media,
have unfortunately expanded that myth to some gunowners. It has created an “us
vs. them” mentality among gunowners and the police. Yes, there are anti freedom
cops out there. But then there are also anti freedom lawyers, doctor, bankers,
politicians, etc. etc. … and yes even some anti freedom gunowners… It’s hard for me to understand why some gunowners think that just because a
person has an FFL license, he is automatically a good guy and just because some
other guy wears a uniform and carries a badge, he is automatically the enemy. In
such cases involving gunowners and law enforcement, we need to quit trying to be
judge, jury and executioner. After all, is that NOT what the Judicial system is
for? Why can’t we wait till AFTER the trial to chastise? Or at least find out
ALL the facts first! It’s hard for me to understand how gunowners who don’t like
to be painted with that broad brush by the anti freedom crowd can turn around
and use that same broad brush on another entire group. It also irks me when a gunowner make the statement:
"if police are really
patriotic they should quit they’re jobs and find another line of employment." My
question to you folks is this: if all patriotic police officers quit, what will
that leave us with? Do we not need MORE patriotic police officers on duty to
train and educate the recruits? I’m fortunate, I guess, in that I’ve come to know several police officers (from
all levels of government) personally through my husband’s occupation as an auto
mechanic. Getting to know these guys has helped strengthen my belief in them.
Every one of the LEO’s we associate with are as hardcore pro 2A as I am and some
even more so. Having been with Women Against Gun Control since 1994, I’ve seen numerous LEO's
join our rank and the words of support others have given WAGC. I wish I could
share some of those comments with you. It’s incredible! I’ve worked gunshows for
10 years now. Numerous police officers attend those shows IN UNIFORM. They are
some of the easiest gunowners to persuade to sign postcards to their elected
officials. It’s incredible! All the police I know VOTE… Wish I could say the
same for all the gunowners I know. It’s Incredible! We NEED these folks in this fight if we are to win against the anti freedom
crowd. Let’s not allow the anti freedom, "Let’s Disarm America" crowd
win by
driving a wedge through some of our best allies. Let's fight TOGETHER! TOGETHER
