TAMPA - An armed
teenager riding a bicycle and his intended victim were shot early Monday in a
botched holdup outside a funeral home in Belmont Heights, police said.
Detectives said the teenager approached John W.
Harmon III outside Harmon Funeral Home after midnight, pulled a gun and ordered
Harmon to ``give it up.''
Instead, police said, Harmon drew a gun of his
own, and both fired. Harmon was hit in the shoulder. The teenager fled, but was
later found hiding nearby with two bullet wounds in the upper torso and one in
the hand, police said.
The teenager, identified as Marlon Kelley, 15,
was taken to Tampa General Hospital. He underwent surgery and was in critical
condition, police said. Charges against him were pending, police spokesman Joe
Durkin said. Harmon was treated at the hospital and released.
