Safety Zones for criminals & terrorists?

  Subject: Safety Zones for criminals & terrorists?
There have been news reports that 
  hijacked airline passengers on cell phones stated that the terrorists used "knife-like" 
  implements and box cutters in order to take over the planes. If true, this means 
  that the most horrific terrorist event in history was accomplished with weapons 
  essentially equivalent to sharpened sticks. The law kept all other passengers 
  from having a gun or any other weapon, thereby depriving them of any means of 
  practical resistance. How can it be lost on people that if all good citizens 
  are unarmed, an evil person with even a primitive weapon can do untold damage 
  far beyond the unintentional "safety zone for criminals and terrorists."
Good people should be able to carry 
  a gun anywhere; they are not a problem. To those that whine about gunfights 
  at 30,000 feet, I remind you of one of the most successful law enforcement efforts 
  of all time, the Sky Marshal program. Not one shot was ever fired on an airplane, 
  but the mere possibility that there might be just one person on board with one 
  six shot revolver brought an abrupt halt to an epidemic of hijackings. It's 
  far better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it. 
  When you truly need one, very little else will do.
