Letter about an Early American Doctor

Article II, Sec. 13 (1876) of the Constitution of Colorado begins: "That the right of no person to keep and bear arms in defense of his home, person and property, or in aid of the civil power when thereto legally summoned, shall be called in question . . ."

Too many physicians have remained silent, for too long, while petty tyrants, including physicians, shred our Second Amendment and our States' Constitutions.

Doctor Joseph Warren of Boston, Chairman, Committee of Safety, 1775, carried his pistols concealed in his great coat while making rounds with his medical students. Boston, under the military governor ship of General Thomas Gage, with eleven regiments of redcoats and a train of artillery, was a dangerous place in those days.

On Castle Island, Doctor Warren, Harvard College graduate, helped pioneer the prevention and treatment of smallpox.

Warren was killed at the battle of Bunker Hill.

It's time for physicians to get in the fight.
