GUN SHOW BLUES
by Mike Casper
“A gun show,” Said trader Al B. Bagg
To his lady, Etta Waite,
“is a toy store filled with wondrous things,
of that there’s no debate.”
“Treasures hidden beneath the years
of grime and careless play,
reveal their glitter to none but us,
who know the tradin’ way”
“Why take that Colt, a masterpiece
of carriage, bore and frame
T’would fetch a bundle at any show
that you would care to name.”
“How much young man, for yonder wreck?
The frame it might be used,
The rest I’d pitch out with the trash
and even then I’d lose.”
“How much young Bub, young grinning son?
Our patience wanes young mate.
A hundred bucks? My God!”
That evil duo screamed.
Al B. Bagg, Etta Waite!
