Today's 5
Minute Activism
We've had so many people tell us
similar versions of the following, which just came in today:
"For the past six months or
so, three friends and myself have been writing 'Keep and Bear Arms' on all of
the paper money we get so that when we spend it, others will get the message.
We have even received several back for change. I think this is something
that everyone can do daily, to let others know how so many of us feel about
our 2nd Amendment rights being taken away . I think it might be of
interest to you for your 5 Minute Activism section. It's something
little that we can all do and it can make a big difference. Everyone
handles money every day, including politicians. If we all did
something small like this, just think of the impact it could have in a short
time."
Obviously, we as an organization
cannot promote the defacing of money. But we do wonder how many bills the
above citizen was able to mark in 5 minutes.
Today's Action Step, from Dr.
Andrew Johnstone:
You should have a physician (a
plug for my profession, admittedly). That physician has a responsibility
to be an honest and informed
advocate for your health and safety, and that of your dependents.
Therefore, your physician is guilty of nothing less than malpractice if (s)he
advocates gun controls that have proven counterproductive (and very few gun
controls have not already been tried, and demonstrated beyond a shadow of doubt
to be abject failures). However, if your physician isn't actively
promoting gun control, that is not good enough - if they really care about the
safety of your family, they will be out there (with us) actively opposing such
gun laws. Saying "that really isn't a health issue" doesn't
cut it, because the anti-gun docs have declared it to be one, and like an
insidious germ spreading through a community, gun control has invaded the field
of medicine, whether we like it or not.
Take your physician a copy of
Edgar Suter's article, Guns
in the Medical Literature.
A longer but similar expose every
physician should read is at http://www.constitution.org/2ll/2ndschol/58tenn.pdf.
Ask your physician to read it, and then to explain why they aren't ACTIVELY
opposing gun control laws. If they are, praise them, send them all
your
(well insured, hypochondriac - just kidding) friends; if they still don't get
it, find one who does.
Granted, if your health is in such
poor shape that switching physicians mid-stream would be dangerous, don't
actually switch, but that doesn't mean you can't pitch a fit. Let
them know why.
