A man who robbed a Hillcroft-area business
Saturday was shot dead by a bystander when he tried to flee the store, police
said.
The slain robber was identified as Danea
Maurice Fogle, 21, of the 13400 block of Woodforest, according to the Harris
County medical examiner's office.
The robbery occurred at 5:55 p.m. Saturday when
a gunman wearing a ski mask entered Hillcroft Car Stereo and Alarm in the 3200
block of Hillcroft, pulled a semiautomatic pistol and jumped behind the counter.
He emptied the cash drawer and then demanded a
miniature TV in a glass case. The store owner handed it over.
The store owner's two brothers, in a back room
working on stereo equipment, watched the robbery on a closed-circuit TV.
One of them grabbed a shotgun and shot the
robber, who died at the scene. A handgun in his possession was reportedly
stolen, Houston police said.
Police believe the slain man robbed businesses
in the Richmond and Chimney Rock areas.
