MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS - Police are looking for two
men who tried to burglarize a Bagley Road home while the occupants were watching
television inside.
The attempted break-in took place at about 8
p.m. May 22, a report said.
According to the report, a woman and her
husband were watching television when someone knocked at the front door. When
they looked outside, they saw a black pickup truck in the driveway; moments
later, the truck pulled out of the driveway and into the parking lot of an
adjacent business.
The report said the driver parked his vehicle,
entered the husband's truck and began looking over one of its tires. It was
then, police said, that the woman saw a second suspect sliding open a screen
door on the patio.
According to the report, the husband told her
to call 911, grabbed a shotgun and pointed it at the intruder, who was trying to
open a patio door. The second suspect then fled the scene.
The victims later found a window on their
attached garage had been shattered.
A man who was near the crime scene was
questioned by police but released after authorities determined he was not
involved in the incident.
The first suspect, who was wearing dark
clothing, was described as white with a medium build. The second man was
dark-skinned, in his early 30s and had short brown hair. He was wearing a dark
gray sweatshirt.
