Subject: To the Oregonian, on Sen. Burdick
So Sen. Ginny Burdick has a new
"study" that shows that over 1000 law abiding Oregonians that have a
CHL may be ineligible to have them because of "criminal records". If
that were the case, I would have thought that the Oregonian would have
immediately investigated the story, and if true, would have blown the cover off
of a major scandal involving the issuance of CHLs. Alas, it is not to be. As
usual the Oregonian has taken upon itself to rely upon the hearsay of a known
anti freedom bigot in the form of Sen. Burdick. The Oregonian opts to obfuscate
the story, saying that the information from Sen. Burdick isn't ready for the
public. Is it because the story is based upon a lie? What are the Oregonian and
Sen. Burdick trying to do? Are they trying to demonize law-abiding citizens that
have CHLs? For a major newspaper to ignore and fail to report the truth about
law abiding citizens that have a CHL is a breach of journalistic standards that
borders on the obscene. It's obvious that the agenda is to try and instill fear
in the general public that law-abiding citizens that have a CHL are a menace to
society. I would counter that an elected State official with an agenda and a
newspaper that blindly follows that same agenda are far more dangerous.
