HOUSTON, TEXAS -- A man shot and killed an intruder who broke into his home late Sunday, police said.
The name of the man killed was not released Monday pending notification of his family.
The incident happened at 11:35 p.m. Sunday in the 2100 block of Davis near Noble when the 71-year-old homeowner responded to a knock at his front door. A man pushed his way in and tried to rob the homeowner, who grabbed a shotgun, police said. When the two exchanged gunfire, the intruder was shot in the shoulder and ran outside, where he fell into a ditch and died.
No charges have been filed, pending further investigation.
