Dear LEAA/CopConcealedCarry.com,

I carefully read all of the information on your website promoting exemptions for law enforcement officers -- granting them free passage to carry concealed handguns nationwide. Noticeably absent from the bill is any mention of the people referred to in "the right of the people to keep and bear arms."

The Petition page of website says:

"If you have any questions feel free to email us (click here)"
http://www.HR218.com/CCCnavbarpetition.htm

I clicked. My questions are clearly, respectfully and succinctly asked below.

Please respond at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely,

Angel Shamaya

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) Is a police officer above the law? If so, why? If not, why should he or she be granted exemptions from laws by which the people he or she is hired to serve must abide?
2) If LEOs are given special status to carry anywhere in the nation, how will lawful, peaceable citizens living in areas where their right to carry has been banned feel about this? Will such special status foster more or less respect for law enforcement as a whole?
3) Why should a peaceable, righteous gun owner support giving a law enforcement officer full exemptions from laws by which he or she must abide? Should the fact that numerous law enforcement officers enforce unconstitutional gun laws have any bearing on whether or not gun owners support giving LEOs full exemptions from gun laws? If not, why not?
4) Why should a police officer expect special treatment beyond that which is allowed the citizen whose constitutional rights he swore to protect and defend? Does a police officer deserve special treatment merely because of the profession he or she chose? If so, who else deserves special exemptions, why, and where does the classification of first, second and underclass citizens end?
5) When a police officer enforces bans on concealed carry -- in his own back yard, against the citizens whose constitutional rights he swore he'd protect and serve -- is it fair or realistic to give him special carry exemptions nationally? If not, why not? If so, why so?
6) Is a cop better than a citizen he's supposed to protect and serve? Is a cop's life more important than a citizen's life, his safety more important than a citizen's safety? If so, why?
7) If police officers are given special exemptions for national concealed carry, are we honestly to believe that they will come to our support for national concealed carry for We The People -- when relatively few of them publicly support national concealed carry as it is? What would push cops to support national concealed carry for The People once they have already achieved their own special exemption? And how many (what percentage) would be pushed enough to actively and aggressively promote national concealed carry for We The People?
8) Assign percentage numbers to each answer to the following two questions. What are the chances of a police officer being present during an attack on a citizen? What are the chances of a citizen being present when he or she is being attacked? Which number is higher?
9) Since law enforcement officers completely outside of their state jurisdiction have no powers of arrest outside of normal citizen police powers, we have to conclude that the only thing they're gaining is an additional right to self defense, versus "needing their gun for their job." Does that seem right? If so, what does this mean about equal protection under the law?
10) Do gun owners need to pull together yet another gun rights organization comprised of law enforcement officers -- one that will stand for nothing short of equal protection under the laws? What shall we call it, and where are the police officers who will get out in front of such an effort with the conviction that nothing short of equal protection deserves any support at all? Do such cops exist, or do all cops wish to vote (and believe) themselves immune to laws under which we "underclass" people must live?
