Home invaders stopped by armed teenager

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Two 18-year-old males forced their way into a residence in the 3600 block of Rio Grande Street at 1 a.m. Wednesday, becoming involved in a gunfight with the resident, an Amarillo Police Department news release said.

The 19-year-old resident said he shot one of the intruders during the altercation, but the males fled by the time officers arrived at the scene, the release said.

The resident was not injured in the gunfight, the release said.
