EAST OAK CLIFF, TEXAS -- A 25-year-old Dallas man was fatally shot early Wednesday after he broke into an
East Oak Cliff home and startled one of the occupants, police said.
Investigators said it appears that the 23-year-old man who shot the intruder was acting lawfully.
The man was not arrested, but the case will be forwarded to a Dallas County grand jury, which is routine, police said.
The victim was identified as Freddie Lee Price Jr., who lived a few blocks away in the 3100 block of 51st Street.
According to Dallas County court records, Mr. Price had 14 previous convictions for burglary, theft, or drug possession.
The shooting occurred about 1:40 a.m. in the 4600 block of Bonnie View Road.
