NORTH UNION TOWNSHIP, PENNSYLVANIA -- A man was killed during a shootout while attempting to rob a Fayette County, Pa., apartment, the Pennsylvania State Police said.
Charles Lennburg Lendell, no age or address given, died from a single gunshot wound outside of the Lemonwood Acres housing area in North Union Township, police said.
According to reports, Lendell and two other men, one of them a juvenile, burst into an apartment at the complex, demanding money and possessions. Several people were in the apartment at the time, and a shootout ensued. Lendell died trying to flee through a back door, police said. A teen-age boy was also shot in the leg, but survived his wound.
The robbery attempt happened around 8 a.m., police said.
Trooper David A. Davison is investigating.
