HOUSTON, TEXAS -- A west Houston businessman this morning shot and killed a suspected burglar.
Police said the owner of Vogler Roofing first discovered his business in the 700 block of North Shepherd had been broken into about 11 p.m. Tuesday.
After police made their report and left, the owner remained on the property to sleep and said he was awakened by an intruder about 2 a.m.
Houston police were sent to the scene to investigate the burglary that was reported to be in progress. By the time they arrived, the owner had already shot the suspect, who was dead at the scene.
The case is being investigated by Houston police homicide detectives, but police said the shooting probably will be referred to a grand jury without charges.
