Attorneys 'who have been working tirelessly' need to be paid as well, the appeal continues, as 'there have been a lot of expenses involved in the case since the end of the trial.'" ...

Gun Laws of America: Critical Items Missing in Feinstein’s Gun Bill

"I’ve just finished reading the 122 pages of Diane Feinstein’s latest 'gun-control' bill, Senate Bill S.150, and was surprised to find some important things missing."

"... but first, here’s what’s missing."

"1. Criminals"

"Nothing addresses criminals — everything is aimed at innocent people who haven’t done anything wrong. There is not even any 'malum in se' (legalese for intent to do wrong) or criminal intention. It is all 'malum prohibitum' (wrong because we say so), the worst kind of bureaucratic and government abuse — crime by decree. The critics appear to be right. This is not about gun control, it is purely about control. ..." ...

"Today’s debate on Gun Control is largely framed by two diametrically opposed perspectives. On the one hand, many proponents of gun rights hold the position that the Second Amendment affords an unrestricted right to keep and bear any arms of our choosing, subject to exactly zero restrictions. All Americans, they argue, regardless of mental capacity, prior conviction status, etc. are guaranteed the right by the Constitution to keep and bear any arms they wish. On the opposing side, many gun control proponents advocate complete civilian disarmament. In their minds, the average person simply can’t be trusted to own firearms. They believe that in a gun-free world, crime would simply cease to exist. . . ." ...

"Watching the gun debate proliferate across the nation, functionaries and politicians weep from podiums erected on the graves of children asserting that law abiding citizens be punished along with lawbreakers. Is this not a tawdry abuse of their office?"

"The Second Amendment does not grant a new right for the citizens, rather it recognizes and provides in writing 'a new security'1, as Justice Wilson stated, to the existing rights God had already conferred on His creation and confirmed in legal commentaries that undergird American law.2" ...

... "As most of you probably know; I love a good debate. Even in losing, I learn something in the exchange - that is if my debate opponent is informed and honest! ... An honest debate starts with facts, proceeds to the problem, and ultimately to a solution. The facts are that innocent people, young and old, are being massacred. The killers are using available weapons such as handguns, rifles, clubs, hammers, knives, shotguns, fists, feet and sundry other things. All of the above are lawfully bought and possessed under the Constitution. States and the federal governments have placed restrictions on automatic weapons and such things as mortars, hand grenades, flame throwers, and explosives. The gun control lobby is not prepared for this debate. ..." ...

It is about those politicians, hereinafter referred to as 'the government', who aid and abet the proliferation of politically expedient lies in a thousand sneaky ways. They would appear to be the majority, or things would be better than they are."

"I often hear questions like these: Why doesn’t the government address the issue of the link between psychotropic drugs and mass shootings? Why do they talk only about gun control as a means to 'stop the violence'? Why don’t they get it? Why are they so dumb?"

"I would like to address Mr. Mike Beebe’s recent 'Viewpoints' leading article regarding firearms and the Second Amendment. In it he made some remarks that display the current attitude of many Americans who are making judgments based mostly on emotions and very little research and understanding of the Second Amendment."

"Mr. Beebe stated that '...collectively our culture repeatedly has failed to handle military weapons responsibly...' This is totally false. Nearly all firearms that gun owners have possessed over the past 200-plus years are direct descendants of military weapons, such as the bolt-action rifle from the 1906 Springfield rifle and the Model 1911 pistol, which is still produced for the public. ..." ...

"As controversial as the various proposals for gun control legislation have been in the wake of the Newtown shooting, one idea that’s managed to survive the debate and gain some traction, even among gun owners, is universal background checks."

"That impulse is a good one. We all want to stop criminals and the dangerous (or potentially dangerous) mentally ill from getting weapons. As a gun owner myself, I consider background checks an acceptable price to pay for the right to own a gun. I share that belief with many other gun owners." ...

"One of the most contentious moments of Wednesday's Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on gun control came when a witness insisted that military-style AR-15 rifles were the 'weapon of choice' among the ladies."

"The comment elicited cackles in the back of the hearing room, crowded with heavy hitters from gun control groups and National Rifle Association reps."

"'Young women are speaking out as to why AR-15 weapons are their weapon of choice,' Independent Women's Forum senior fellow Gayle Trotter dead-panned. 'The guns are accurate. They have good handling. They're light. They're easy for women to hold.'"

"This is a brief overview of how my two-part printed Lower Receiver is assembled into a fully functional Lower Receiver."

"I’m going to assemble an AR-15 Lower Receiver from parts. The lower Receiver is the part of the AR(Armalite Rifle)-15 civilian firearm that contains the fire control group, the magazine well, and attaches the stock to the Upper receiver which holds the bolt and the barrel. On its own, the Lower Receiver is hardly recognizable as a firearm. One would be more likely to confuse an upper receiver by itself for a firearm than a lower. But the Lower Receiver is the part on which the serial number is stamped, and of all the distinct components of the complete rifle, this part is legally considered to be 'the gun' ..." ...

Duck, duck, goose. A game wherein children learn the art of picking the fat, dumpy kid. A lesson learned by proponents of civilian disarmament. 'Federal law prohibits me from having more than three shells in my shotgun when I’m duck hunting. Federal law provides more protection for the ducks than it does for citizens.' See what California Rep. Mike Thompson did there? He’s encouraging hunters to think of Americans as sitting ducks. Home of the Brave that. Anyway, never mind. 'Assault rifles' have been outselling traditional shotguns and rifles by a margin of five to one (or more) for almost a decade. Handguns have been outselling long guns for more than four years. Agreed, only I put a few more >’s into the equation: registration > confiscation > civilian disarmament > police state > mass murder. "Today, the Senate Judiciary Committee heard testimony on the subject 'What Should America Do About Gun Violence?' The goal was to figure out what steps the government should take to increase gun control (if any). The witness list so far has actually been fairly balanced, inviting both NRA Veep Wayne LaPierre and Mark Kelly (Gabby Giffords’ husband and gun control advocate), as well as some people who actually have skin in the game such as Baltimore’s chief of police.
