Established by Industrias Tecnos in 1961, Aguila Ammunition manufactures firearms cartridges in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico, commonly known as the City of Eternal Spring for its gorgeous climate. In fact, prior to the arrival of the Spanish, this was where the Aztec ruling class made their home during the dog days of summer. Aguila develops ammo for self defense, sport shooting, hunting, law enforcement and military use, and has become one of the largest rimfire manufacturers in the world. They’re also known for their sponsorship of the Aguila Cup shooting event, a multi-discipline shooting sports tournament.

While most of America has been distracted by Democrat-led efforts to impeach President Donald Trump, gun control bills have been piling up in Congress. Two of the measures have already been passed by the House, while five others were reported out of committee. The main two legislative items to closely monitor are the “Extreme Risk Protection Order Act of 2019” (H.R. 1236) and the equally Orwellian “Disarm Hate Act” (H.R. 2708). Neither bill had made it to the House for a floor vote at press time, but AFP readers are urged to stay especially vigilant.

If you buy essential oils on the lower rungs of the quality ladder, the worst thing that can happen is that you’ll be out a few bucks and feel a bit slimy. Oh, and your friends will think you weird for investing in magic oil in the first place. If you buy a self-defense gun that doesn’t rank above the midpoint of the Gunsumer Reports Annual Ballistics issue, it might cost you your life. And for cheaping out on so important a decision, your friends might arrange for Cardi B to lip-sync the Baby Shark song at your funeral.

Eight-shot double-action revolvers chambered in .38 Special have become the dominant wheelgun in many action-shooting competitions. In USPSA, 8-shot Minor has displaced 6-shot Major revolvers because A Zone hits count the same for both, and C Zone hits don’t hurt too badly in Minor if you make them fast enough. The fewer reloads needed by the 8-shot guns speed time through the COF and boost overall scores. In ICORE Limited Division the same applies.

Deer Hunting: Win the Lockdown Battle

It’s one of those words you curse your hunting buddy for uttering: lockdown. This alleged rut phenomenon occurs in mid-November across the heart of whitetail country and stems from the majority of whitetail does coming into estrus in a short window. The evolutionary trait allows females to birth in a brief time period when spring nutrition growth is optimal. Of parallel importance is the fact that the fawn explosion overwhelms predators and ensures enough fawns survive for the good of the species. Unfortunately, for a week or two the activities of whitetail bucks change, and not necessarily for the better if you’re a hunter.

Democrat presidential hopeful Sen. Cory Booker took a swipe at rival Pete Buttigieg, mayor of South Bend, Ind., for what many in the Second Amendment community would define as a moment of complete honesty when Buttigieg described a “gun buyback” proposal as “confiscation,” according to the National Review.

Booker, the New Jersey anti-gunner, declared in a message on Twitter, “Calling buyback programs ‘confiscation’ is doing the NRA’s work for them, and they don’t need our help,” National Review reported.

I’ve been learning how to draw. No, not with colored pencils or finger paints—I suck at that. I’ve been learning how to draw, or more accurately, relearning how to draw from legitimate concealment. I’ve been eating some portions of humble pie while experimenting with the new Mantis X10 magic computer training tool recently, and it’s exposing plenty of things I need to work on. Even before the upcoming New Year’s Resolution season.

Firearm violence, and all violence, is a sad aspect of our society. Though tragic mass shootings splash on newscasts and newspapers, individual shootings rarely make the news as they once did, despite these kinds of shootings being more prevalent in our community. kind of firearm violence in which innocent individuals are needlessly slain is unacceptable. A single innocent person being killed should stir the same emotions as those invoked by a mass killing.

A University of Virginia student and a young woman from Albemarle County are taking a stand against a gun law lawmakers enacted years ago. They want to see the age limit lowered for handgun purchases, but their reasoning may surprise you. UVA fourth-year Tanner Hirschfield and 19-year-old Natalia Marshall of Albemarle County are not letting a decision from a federal judge in Charlottesville stop their fight. They argue a law that limits their ability to purchase handguns is flawed, discriminatory, and encourages unsafe behavior.

The number of illegally used or owned guns taken off the streets in Oklahoma’s two most populous cities continues to increase. Police say they are watching to see of the new permitless-carry law will result in higher gun seizures. The number of illegally used or owned guns taken off the streets in Oklahoma’s two most populous cities continues to be on the rise. Data from the Oklahoma City and Tulsa police departments show gun seizures are up in both cities as officials say a mix of added crime-fighting enforcement measures and the ever-growing number of guns, owned legally or illegally by Oklahomans, is contributing to the increase.

Washington is in the middle of the pack when it comes to statewide gun buys in the United States, but the numbers have risen quite a bit in the past 10 years. There were, on average, 64 retail gun sales per 100,000 people in Washington last year, says security.org. But that is a jump of 31.3% since 2009, the study found -- the 18th highest percentage increase in the U.S. (also including the District of Columbia.)

Recently I was digging around my file cabinet and came across an old receipt for a gun. However, this is not just any gun; it’s the first handgun I bought. The ink has faded quite a bit, but the date, description and price are legible. On Dec. 23, 1974, I paid $101.70 for a new Colt New Frontier .22/.22 WMR revolver. At the time I was greener than the first grass sprouts of spring. I knew next to nothing about guns in general and handguns in particular.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is warning hunters and fishermen to make sure they buy licenses from official websites. The DNR says some websites are passing themselves off as official places to buy a license when they are not. Personal information could be compromised if given to unknown companies. Good optics can make, or break a gun. In the world of optics, there are so many options. Where do we even begin? You got $20 WalMart scopes and other scopes that can run into several thousands of dollars. The size of the scope tube, the size of the lense, the eye relief, parallax, lighted reticles. It's enough to make your head spin. Lucky for us, ARTcorp has come along and made the optics world a whole lot less complicated.

Lawmakers are considering legislation that would eliminate state requirements for concealed pistol training or licensing in Michigan.

The legislation also would ease bans on carrying a concealed pistol in a child care center, sporting arena, bar, church, hospital, or college campus by allowing private entities to either deny or allow concealed carry in those locations. If those locations were public, concealed carry would be allowed by default, said Rep. Steve Johnson, a sponsor of the five-bill package.

“What we’re really doing when we declare a place to be a gun-free zone is informing would be criminals that this location is where you can safely assume their victims will be defenseless,” said Rep. John Reilly, R-Oakland Township

Democrat presidential hopeful Elizabeth Warren wants to use federal excise taxes to reduce gun and ammunition sales. Her gun control, made public in August on Medium, shows Warren believes the current ten percent excise tax on firearms is too low.  QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Arms discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property . . . Horrid mischief would ensue were the law-abiding deprived of the use of them. — Thomas Paine, Thoughts on Defensive War (1775).
