... "Once Holder is gone, so will go any chance for political gain, plus Republicans know they’d be painted as bullies in some corners and racists in others if they dared go after him (some have been doing that all along). It just wouldn’t be worth it to them, especially since a reinvigorated Obama is confident that should the trail get too close he retains the pardon option, knowing the media and constituency that returned him to power would back him to the hilt." ...

"As if the onerous fees and rigorous requirements set forth by the City of Chicago to exercise one’s civil right to own most types of firearms for personal defense aren’t enough, the Superintendent of Police has declared a long list of affordable firearms 'unsafe' and prohibited them from being lawfully owned in the City of Chicago."

"Today’s bans on affordable handguns have their roots in the old 'Army and Navy laws' from the post-Civil War south. These laws were first passed in the 1870s ... to effectively keep the poor, recently freed slaves from firearm ownership. The law barred the sale of handguns except the 'Army and Navy' guns which were both expensive and typically already owned by white, former Confederate soldiers." ...

"When the going gets tough, residents in New Jersey and New York have found government isn’t there to protect them from violent intruders, looters, rapists and burglars."

"What do they turn to?"

"GUN OWNER NEIGHBORS."

"How about that?"

"All the sudden, in these anti-gun urban areas, it’s the gun owners who are suddenly everyone’s best friend."

"A late summer decision from the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, which just came to my attention via gun rights and law scholar David Hardy, has a useful lesson for how not to make Second Amendment history: marching around a national state park in camo with a gun with a nearly foot-long barrel and a full 30-round ammo clip magazine across your chest. Even though, yes, you were within the letter of the law." ...

"Izhmash and Izhevsk, two of the most famous small arms manufacturers in Russia, are in talks about the possibility of merging. Both companies have had financial troubles in the recent past, and while Izhevsk pulled through them back in 2009, Izhmash was declared bankrupt and is currently being run by the state."

"Merging the two companies will allow production to continue while the Izhmash plant is refitted and modernized. The armory is specialized in churning out huge numbers of rifles, and needs to re-tool to cost-effectively produce for current market realities. But the idea of re-branding both companies under the Kalashnikov name goes further than just updating their equipment." ...

"Back in February, I posted about my Remington 700 Precision Rifle Project. To recap for those who don’t want to go back and read that post, I bought a used Remington 700 SPS in .300 Winchester Magnum and added an Accuracy International Stock. At that point, I was about $1,300 into the project. Since then, I swapped out the stock Remington trigger for a Timney, replaced my cheap bipod with an Atlas BT-10NC, added a Bushnell Elite ERS 6-24 Scope and sent my rifle out to ScoreHi Gunsmithing in Albuquerque, NM for some additional fine tuning . . ." ...

"I have talked in the past about how far we have come (in such a very short time) with regards to the quality of weapon mounted lights and lasers that we Gunnies now have at our disposal. "Sometimes I wonder about my taste. I see some guns and I think, I have to shoot that thing, even when I know it won't be fun and that fun is not the point. A derringer is not a target gun, unless it is one of the odd-balls from American Derringer. The derringer is most often a weapon of last resort. A get-off-me-gun in the truest sense."

"So it is with the four barreled C.O.P. derringer. This slick looking gun is a compact monster.
