Two events last month confirmed the Second Amendment community’s suspicion that the anti-gun crowd will not stop until Americans are disarmed. The headline in the November 4th edition of the state’s daily newspaper declares “Advocates: R.I. judges must order more gun surrenders”. Why? The Moms Demand Action subsidiary of Everytown for Gun Safety funded by multi-billionaire and presidential candidate, Michael Bloomberg, said that “over an eight-month period, judges [in Family Court] ordered firearms surrendered in 34 percent of cases where a final protective order was issued.”

A bill pre-filed for the upcoming session of the Washington legislature would limit the use of extreme risk protection orders to confiscate guns in the state. The .50 Action Express cartridge is, without a doubt, one of the world’s most powerful pistol cartridges. It features a .500-inch bullet diameter (33mm) in a 1.285-inch straight-walled case that has a rebated rim. The overall length of the standard .50 AE round measures 1.610 inches, and the ammo is powered with a large pistol primer. According to the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute (SAAMI), the maximum pressure of .50 AE ammo should not exceed 36,000 pounds per square inch (psi).

MI: How gerrymandering and gun control go hand in hand

At first blush, you would not think gerrymandering has anything to do with expanding criminal background checks to all firearms.

The two, however, are linked. And, for backers of the proposed law, the harsh reality is that eliminating politically drawn voting district lines may be the only real hope they have to implement their plan.

The emotions were running high in a state Senate committee room recently when the anti-gun-violence caucus staged a news conference to make the purchase of all guns subject to that background check.

“These are my people,” smiled state Rep. Robert Wittenberg, D-Oakland County.

For about five years, he and his liked-minded Democratic colleagues have declared war on gun violence.

Several decades ago, I brought forth the idea of a Perfect Packin’ Pistol (PPP). My original definition of a PPP was a sixgun or semi-automatic with the barrel not less than 4" nor more than 5-1/2". It would be easy to pack just as the name implies. Carry it all day and then put it under your pillow or bedroll at night. The chambering could be anything from .22 Long Rifle up to .500 Linebaugh depending upon where one’s travels took them.

The FBI warned months ago of a loophole that allows foreign nationals to legally purchase firearms while in the U.S. The loophole gives foreign nationals legal purchaser status if they simply obtain a hunting license. The gunman who killed three people at Naval Air Station Pensacola allegedly acquired his gun “legally” at a Florida retailer because he was in possession of such a license.

Some people like guns and discharge them in a safe direction all their lives with little desire to improve their skills. I’ve never been that kind of person. I’ve always approached shooting as a test of my ability to improve. In high school, I gauged my skills against the ability of my friends; later I began competitive shooting.

Houston police chief criticized after ripping 'smug' Senate Republicans for officer death

Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo is being criticized this week after he ripped into Senate Republicans, accusing them of delaying legislation for the benefit of the NRA, this after one of his officers was killed in the line-of-duty over the weekend while responding to a domestic abuse call.

Sen. Ted Cruz responded in a statement. “It's unfortunate the chief of police in Houston seems more focused on trying to advance his own political ambitions than on supporting the brave men and women of HPD. The fact is that this killer was a criminal whom federal law already prohibited from having a gun.

Submitter's note: Don't let facts get in the way of using a death to advance your agenda. Typical big city gun banning police chief.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
I now think the only way to control handgun use is to prohibit the guns. And the only way to do that is to change the Constitution. — M. Gartner, then President of NBC News, USA Today, January 16, 1992, pg. A9
