What a loaded question in the year 2021. Due to the perfect storm combination of a pandemic, civil unrest, and election uncertainty, 2020 was a record-breaking year for gun and ammo sales. Not only did the already established tens of millions of gun owners buy more guns and ammo, but over eight million first-time gun buyers joined our ranks. For many millions of Americans the reality that they are on their own, with nobody coming to help them in time, finally set in. Those of us who have been invested in our own self-protection for a long time are bewildered that it took such a year to wake many people up, but here we are.

The Trophy Bonded Tip bullet is used in a few Federal Premium Ammunition lines – the Trophy Bonded Bear Claw, Trophy Bonded Sledgehammer Solid, and the Trophy Copper. While each of these ammo lines differs slightly, there’s one thing they all have in common, and that’s the tip.

Life is complex. Sure, in the time of Covid you can tell everyone to stay home and starve, but they won’t do it. You can’t make people lay down and obey.

They act for themselves, and soon they think for themselves. Later, they protect themselves.

They are not alone.

An office worker in Orlando, Fla., was forced to use a pistol in self-defense when they and a coworker were attacked by a man with a machete inside their business on the morning of Feb. 16, 2021. The incident occurred before 9:30 a.m. that Tuesday, when a man entered the Staff Zone office on Old Winter Garden Road with a machete in his hands. The man was upset and began arguing with two employees who were in the office at that time. As the argument continued, the man then moved to attack the two employees with the blade. As the attacker lunged at one of the employees, one office worker drew a pistol and fired.

Last week, anti-gun legislators filed bills to require registration for many common semi-automatic firearms, ban many firearm modifications, and increase the fee and red tape to apply for a FOID. Please contact your state representative and ask them to OPPOSE House Bills 3212, 3222, and 3245.

House Bill 3212 bans, among other things, “any other device, part, or combination of parts that is designed to and functions to substantially increase the rate of fire of a semiautomatic firearm above the standard rate of fire for semiautomatic firearms that is not equipped with that device, part, or combination of parts.”

For well more than a century, it’s safe to say wildlife and the wild places it inhabits have benefited because of hunters—and, by extension, NRA members. That last part is not a stretch. Next to self-defense hunting is one of the primary ways Americans exercise their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. Indeed, across the expanse of the 19th century, hunting was perhaps the primary way Americans exercised that right while our society stretched coast-to-coast and in large part fed itself off game.

The Indiana House voted Monday to eliminate the license to carry a handgun in the state -- an apparent victory, at least temporary, for supporters of Second Amendment gun rights. House Bill 1369, which passed the House by a 65-31 vote and now heads to the Senate, repeals a law that requires a person to obtain a license to carry a handgun in Indiana, according to the Indianapolis Star.

A Washington State Court of Appeals panel smacked down a so-called “safe storage” requirement for gun owners living in the City of Edmonds because it violates the state’s preemption statute.

The Second Amendment Foundation, National Rifle Association and three private citizens sued the city in 2018 after it adopted the storage requirement in defiance of Washington’s long standing preemption law, adopted in 1983 and 1985. Under that statute, authority for adopting gun laws rests solely in the hands of the State Legislature.

The National Rifle Association's Institute for Legislative Action applauds a decision by the Washington Court of Appeals today that upheld the state's preemption law and struck down a pair of local ordinances that restricted the right of law-abiding gun owners. "Today's ruling is an important victory for the people of Washington," said Lars Dalseide, NRA Washington state spokesman. "Hopefully jurisdictions like Edmonds will realize that violating the Washington State Constitution is neither legal nor in the best interest of personal protection."

Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte last week signed a bill recognizing that law-abiding Montana gun owners 18 or older may carry a concealed firearm without written authorization from the government. The measure approved by the Republican governor, HB 102, was approved 68-30 by the state House and 29-21 by the state Senate, largely along party lines earlier this month. Gianforte signed the proposal last Thursday.
