Even many supporters of Second Amendment gun rights have serious reservations about a bill now advancing to the floor of the Kansas House.

The bill, which already has passed the Kansas Senate, would make it legal to carry a concealed firearm without obtaining a license. That means gun owners wouldn’t have to meet any of the training or background check requirements that now are part of obtaining a license. They may not know how to safely handle the gun; they may have serious mental health issues; but if they can legally own a gun in Kansas, they would be able to conceal that gun and carry it in many Kansas locations.

Last week, when in TX, I visited a big Cabelas near Austin. 223/5.56mm was nearly cleaned-out!

Plenty of pistol ammunition in all popular calibers, and 308, 7.62×39, 6.8mm, and 300Blk were also all in good supply, but scant 223/5.56mm, in any configuration brand, nor bullet weight.

The issue was, of course, the “proposed” new ATF “regulation” [now put n hold by ATF] that would ban from manufacture and sale the military M855 62gr “green-tip” 5.56mm round.

The Grand Canyon State bucked President Obama’s federal gun control policy on Tuesday, signaling a significant victory for the Second Amendment.

The Arizona State Senate gave the green light to SB 1330, better known as “The Second Amendment Preservation Act.” The bill “is a simple yet powerful tool to nullify federal gun ‘laws,’ rules and regulations by withdrawing state enforcement and support for these federal acts,” as described by the Tenth Amendment Center. “The legislation is drafted so as to be introduced and passed as a step-by-step approach, with each step building on the last until all federal gun control is rendered unenforceable and effectively null and void in the state.”

Larry and Brenda Potterfield, owners of MidwayUSA, will make a $100,000 donation to the NRA/ILA National Endowment for the Protection of the Second Amendment.

The donation is being made in honor of NRA/ILA’s hard work in rallying NRA members and Congress to combat the ATF’s proposed changes to the M855/SS109 ammo exemption framework. The donation also celebrates ATF’s recent decision to refrain from seeking to issue a final framework at this time.

A proposed ban on a type of ammunition used in popular rifles has been withdrawn in the wake of protests from thousands of gun owners and objections from lawmakers including U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt and U.S. Rep. Billy Long.

The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives had proposed the ban of some types of rounds used in popular AR-15 rifles because the bullets can be used in some new types of handguns, and, the agency says, can pierce a police officer's protective vest.

Gun Control: Fifty-two senators, 238 House members and 80,000 public comments have forced the ATF to pull back for "more study" its proposed ban on ammo for the AR-15, the leading gun for hunting and self-defense.

The Second Amendment, written in the era of muskets, does not mention what arms we have the right to keep and bear.

But we have an idea, based on how they were used: to protect their owners' homes, businesses, farms and families, and to resist the tyranny of government, which during the American Revolution was the British crown.

A few years ago I thought up an easy-to-remember acronym. Well, more precisely, I re-purposed an easy-to-remember acronym. CPR, as it’s commonly known, stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. It’s an emergency procedure performed to restore blood circulation and breathing in a person who is in cardiac arrest, so it follows that my re-appropriation also describes a life saving course of action in the form of three tactical essentials needed to survive any self-defense encounter.

This tactical CPR stands for: Confident attitude, Predetermined tactics, and Rapid response.

Younger Police Officers Are More Likely To Shoot People Than Older Ones

The age of an officer is perhaps the least-discussed factor in a fatal encounter with police, and the maturity of an officer rarely comes up in news conferences after an incident. Age wasn’t mentioned in the Justice Department’s deep, 86-page analysis of Brown’s fatal shooting released last week.

Yet research shows that younger officers are more likely to be involved in shootings, and that the risk of shootings declines as officers age. That may be because younger officers are more likely to be working on the street than behind a desk, according to researchers, but it could also be that younger officers are predisposed to react with deadly force.

The victim, who happens to have a concealed weapons permit, drew her weapon on the robber and watched as he ran off, police said.

“The victim stated once the suspect pulled the needle out, she pulled out her handgun and stuck it in the suspect’s face. The victim advised the suspect, ‘I dare you to stab me,'” the report states.

Although the victim didn’t shoot the gun, she could’ve been covered under the Castle Doctrine, which expanded in the past five years to include areas beyond the home. 15th Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson said.

"I have a goal to run (Mississippi Gun Rights) out of Mississippi, and I hope they never come back," said House Judiciary Chairman Andy Gipson, R-Braxton, one of the Legislature's staunchest gun-rights advocates. "They have made me mad … Noel Fritsch is no friend of mine. He has got a bad way of doing things."

Sen. Angela Hill, who filed a constitutional carry bill on behalf of Fritsch and Mississippi Gun Rights, said she has warned Fritsch she would contact the Capitol Police if he contacts her again. She said his communications with her went from bossy to "borderline threatening."

Thune, a long-time champion of gun-rights, made the following statement on the ATF’s guidelines for determining whether certain ammunition meets the 1986 Law Enforcement Officer Protection Act’s “sporting purposes” exemption:

Thorpe's plan is a little different. The Republicans who support his idea aren't doing so out of an irrational fear of the federal government. But out of an irrational fear of you.

Instead of trying to fashion Arizona into a half-cocked sovereign nation Thorpe wants to cede Arizona's authority to other states.

Other states would have power over Arizona.

The compact Thorpe wants lawmakers to adopt "prohibits a member state from enacting any law, whether it is via legislation, voter initiative, or otherwise, governing the transfer of firearms that is more restrictive than federal law."

Some legislators are trying again to pass a bill to allow people to carry concealed guns on Montana university campuses, even through Gov. Steve Bullock vetoed a similar bill in 2013.

The House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday heard but took no immediate action on Senate Bill 143, by Sen. Cary Smith, R-Billings.

"It provides the opportunity for students that are enrolled in college in the state of Montana and faculty to have the guns on campus," Smith said.

One criminologist, Gary Kleck of Florida State University, has pointed to higher ownership rates cited in Gallup surveys. He notes that these results are closer to the truth since they are based on anonymous phone surveys rather than an in-person poll. In the latest Gallup survey conducted in October 2014, 42 percent of Americans reported having a gun in their household, a fairly consistent figure since 2004. An even greater share, 63 percent, agrees that having a gun in the house makes it a safer place to be. And support for additional gun control has become a minority opinion in the latest Pew research poll.

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms today called on B. Todd Jones to step down as director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, or be fired in the wake of what the group called a “colossal blunder” by the agency in proposing a ban on certain ammunition for the popular AR-15 rifle.

CCRKBA’s call for Jones’ departure follows yesterday’s sudden retreat by the ATF on its proposal to re-classify the popular .223-caliber M855 ammunition as “armor piercing.” CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb said it was a clear victory for grassroots Second Amendment activism, no matter how short lived it may turn out to be.

Noted investments counselor Snoop Doggy Dogg or Snoop Lion or whatever he’s calling himself these days has teamed up in a video with some other people many who lead purposeful lives have probably never heard of. This time, Sniff Dogg isn’t starring in a “Girls Gone Wild Doggystyle” video, doing the important work of luring underage girls with drugs to behave like drunken exhibitionist sluts for GGW founder Joe Francis, himself convicted of falsely imprisoning and assaulting women, “grabbing one ... by the hair and throat and slamm[ing] her head into the floor.” This time, the Snoopster's the front man for a campaign to convince investors to divest gun-related companies from their 401K retirement portfolios.

I know you’re shocked – SHOCKED – to learn that Democrats have been caught chipping away at the Second Amendment again, now one round at a time. If nothing else, they are persistent.

In 2008, a “nobody from nowhere” presidential candidate who had mastered the art of the “BIG Lie” mesmerized an audience with his faux provincial twang, insisting, “I believe in the Second Amendment. I believe in people’s lawful right to bear arms. I will not take your shotgun away. I will not take your rifle away. I won’t take your handgun away.”

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Many politicians are in the habit of laying it down as a self-evident proposition, that no people ought to be free till they are fit to use their freedom. The maxim is worthy of the fool in the old story, who resolved not to go into the water till he had learned to swim. If men are to wait for liberty till they become wise and good in slavery, they may indeed wait forever. — LORD THOMAS MACAULAY
