An Uber driver who shot a man Sunday in presumed self-defense has been suspended from the ride-share platform while the company investigates.

The man she shot, 21-year-old Tyriq Wiggins-Younger, followed the driver about two miles from a motel on Cheshire Bridge Road to a Target store on Peachtree Road in Buckhead, where Atlanta police said he crashed into her car and she shot him multiple times. No charges are pending against the Uber driver, but Wiggins-Younger is facing several charges, including impersonating an officer with the Los Angeles Police Department.

He sued the city after he was acquitted of shooting at law enforcement on the grounds of self-defense, and says the lawsuit was never about “a check,” but “justice and accountability.”

On Tuesday, May 17, Jaleel Stallings was offered and accepted a $1.5 million-plus costs and attorney fees settlement from the city of Minneapolis.

The lawsuit, obtained by Atlanta Black Star, accused officers in the Minneapolis Police Department of lying about the May 30, 2020 incident, including their instructions to police to “deliberately concealed their appearance so that they could hunt civilians by sneaking up and shooting them with 40mm rounds.”

If they rule that New York’s restrictions on carrying a gun in public are unconstitutional, then “across the country, there will be lots of laws that will be invalidated right away,” said Jerold Levine, a New York City lawyer who focuses on gun cases and supports the challenge to this law.

He said it’s likely the court will still allow states and municipalities to deny people licenses to carry guns — “there’s no need to worry that murderers will be getting licenses,” he said — but people won’t have to provide a justification for their application.

Levine called this potential change the “holy grail” of gun rights: “This has been the greatest limitation for gun owners now for over 100 years.”

MO: How some gun laws fail, even in Missouri

Out of more than 30 bills filed this past legislative session concerning firearms, at least 23 were similar or identical to bills filed in previous sessions.

Again this year, none of those bills became law.

Missouri has a reputation as a state friendly to gun rights, and in many ways already has some of the least restrictive laws in the country. So why do these bills -- many with strong Republican backing and even some bipartisan support -- struggle to see the governor's pen?

A lack of collaboration within the gun rights camp is partly to blame, as is the resistance from groups calling for more gun safety. The answer also lies in the complexities of the Legislature and the process of passing a bill.

Since clearly nothing is sacred on the part of the perpetrators, no counter action should be left off the table. The most obvious is gun control. Congress should follow the dictates of 80 percent of voters who support background checks for gun owners. Two out of three Americans feel assault weapons that exist solely to annihilate large numbers of human beings should be banned.

Discovering old writings by top handgunners in their day is always educational for many reasons. When I recently ran across some very old magazines from nearly 50 years ago in a corner office, the honest-to-goodness first story to grab my attention was by the late Skeeter Skelton extolling the virtues of — wait for it — the Colt Diamondback.

Here’s a dandy — in my humble opinion — little sixgun which some folks have wrongly disdained as being a little on the delicate side for reasons I cannot fathom. Reading his decades-old article, it appears Skelton didn’t share that opinion either, as he described this particular Colt as having “performed beautifully.”

We now know more details regarding a fatal shooting in Carencro on Wednesday evening and police say it was self-defense.

The incident took place at a mobile home in the 100 block of Sateen Royale Circle. Carencro Police say the shooting took place around 7:30 pm.

Upon arrival, they found 34-year-old Terrence Valliere dead after being shot by his father Cuba Valliere.

“We are being told it was a dispute between the younger Valliere and his girlfriend that turned physical. His father intervened to prevent his son from hurting the young lady,” Police Chief David Anderson told KLFY.

The decision in the California case, known as Jones v. Bonta, prompted the NRA on Monday to file what is known as a “supplementary authority” document in the Florida case.

“The Ninth Circuit has confirmed that the Second Amendment protects young adults’ right to purchase firearms,” NRA attorney John Parker Sweeney wrote.

The California law also requires hunting licenses for people under age 21 who are purchasing long guns such as rifles or shotguns, except for members of the military or law enforcement.

Wasting little time in the aftermath of Saturday’s mass shooting at a Buffalo supermarket, gun control groups and at least one Democratic lawmaker are already using the monstrous, racially-motivated crime to try and fill their campaign coffers.

Screenshots of fundraising emails sent out by Everytown for Gun Safety, Brady PAC and Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) were shared on social media this week.

“This weekend’s mass shooting in Buffalo is yet another horrifying reminder of how white supremacy is deadly, especially when it’s combined with easy access to guns,” read a screenshot of an email from Everytown for Gun Safety that was tweeted by Second Amendment activist Robert Romano Monday.

Lee Zeldin is taking heat for a leaked video in which he calls for repealing New York State's strict gun regulations under the NY SAFE Act.

Zeldin, who is considered the frontrunner in the Republican race for New York Governor, made the comments in the weeks leading up to the mass shooting at a Buffalo, New York grocery store.

The leaked video was obtained by Spectrum News and shows Zeldin at a campaign event in which he says the following comment about "red flag" laws.

While serving as the Mayor of Toledo, Rep. Paula Hicks-Hudson said her administration handed out free gun-locking devices to local residents.

The Democratic lawmaker wants to bring those efforts back – this time across Ohio.

Hicks-Hudson and Rep. Jeffrey Crossman (D-Parma) recently introduced House Bill 661, which would require federally licensed firearm vendors to attach a trigger lock to every gun sold in their stores, a device that blocks the trigger and aims to prevent accidental discharge or a firearm ending up in the wrong hands.

Paul Riddell didn't sell body armor to the 18-year-old bigot accused of killing 10 people Saturday at a Buffalo grocery store. Wouldn't have sold it, in fact.

He's haunted anyway. Another mass shooting, another zealot in the sort of tactical gear Riddell disperses to a deliberately limited clientele.

"All I can see is this scene playing out in my head," Riddell said, "where these innocent victims are killed by this guy."

If we are "sick of massacres," says the headline over Gail Collins' latest New York Times column, we should "get rid of the guns." Which guns? Collins herself is not sure. Sometimes she seems to be talking about the rifles that politicians call "assault weapons." She refers a few times to "assault rifles" and mentions "the infamous semiautomatic AR-15." But she also talks about banning "semiautomatic rifles" and "semiautomatics" in general, which are much broader categories that include many other commonly used guns.

This attack came one month after a shooter with a Glock 9 mm handgun injured 23 people in a Brooklyn subway. Given these horrific events, it is hard to fathom how the U.S. Supreme Court could be contemplating striking down a century-old New York gun regulation, but based on the oral argument in the case, this unthinkable reality seems almost inevitable unless the court comes to its senses, abandons originalist fantasy, and recognizes the long history of gun regulation and enforcement in America, including limits on public carry.

This latest mass shooting in Buffalo, gives gun ownership groups a renewed opportunity to defend the right of racists, violent criminals, and unsupervised teenagers to purchase and own guns – as many as they want and any type of gun they want. They consider all guns: semi-automatic firearms, guns with high-capacity magazines and guns with “enhancements” such as bump stocks as a right for anyone to own, regardless of personal history, intent, or reason. The interpretation of the Second Amendment for gun ownership groups results in allowing anyone the opportunity to own and operate a deadly firearm that could enable them to commit unspeakable crimes against Americans.

FL: NRA argues California ruling bolsters challenge to Florida gun law

Pointing to a ruling in a California case, lawyers for the National Rifle Association this week urged a federal appellate court to strike down a Florida law prohibiting sales of rifles and other long guns to adults under age 21.

A three-judge panel of the Atlanta-based 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in March heard arguments in the Florida lawsuit, which the NRA filed after the Legislature passed the law in 2018 in response to the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.

The ban on long-gun sales to people ages 18 through 20 was included in a sweeping school-safety law. Federal law already barred sales of handguns to people under 21.

And Willis notes, one other decision the court will drop this term, in addition to abortion, is one that will likely demolish New York’s restrictive concealed-carry law. Willis explains how that looming disaster stems from how, “in 2008, the Supreme Court for the first time in its history divined an individual right to gun possession, unconnected with your service in the militia, in the Second Amendment. And it’s hard to overstate how astroturfed this was. The court had never previously held that. This was a real sea change in the law.

They said Mike doesn’t support the Second Amendment because of a dismissive sidebar comment made while speaking to the Army War College about military tactics to disarm a community. Mike has spent more time with firearms than all his opponents combined. No one in this race knows the importance of the Second Amendment more than Mike Durant. He risked his life to protect our right to bear arms. He owns over 20 guns including an AK-47 and AR-15, and he won’t let anyone take them.

Removing the lock on a fixed magazine requires a reverse drill bit, which is typically used to remove stripped screws. With some locks, you can even use less-expensive tools, like a small flat-head screwdriver, if you’re patient enough. When that lock is removed, the magazine catch, which holds the magazine in place until pressed to reload, needs to be replaced.

Replacement mag catches range in price. In his rant, the Buffalo shooter described using an Anderson Manufacturing release and spring he purchased online. The kit retails for $19.99.

Within hours of a white gunman killing 10 Black people at a Tops grocery store just a few minutes’ walk from Alexander Wright’s Buffalo home, Wright posted on his Facebook page that he would pay the entrance fee for 10 people to attend a gun safety class the next day. He had 10 takers within 20 minutes, and many more requests piled up after that.

Wright wasn’t surprised by the response, which came overwhelmingly from his Black neighbors and friends. “People were pissed,” he told Coffee or Die Magazine. “People were like, ‘Oh my god, I can’t be out here like this.’”

There’s a lot to address regarding this road rage incident between a man and his wife and another motorist. Ultimately, it seems the victim was justified in drawing his gun, but a lot could have been done to potentially diffuse this situation.

I’ll start by stating something we are constantly preaching here at USA Carry. You need to keep your ego and anger in check, especially when driving. And especially when carrying a gun! I don’t know what it is, but something about driving turns some people into loose cannons. We report on road rage incidents all the time.

As a journalist who reports on political violence, which has resulted in left-wing activists showing up to my personal residence to intimidate me, the right to utilize the second amendment has become vital to me. Which is why also listed on my profile, in order to weed out the gun control advocates, one would would find "must like firearms"– a crucial necessity that the standard male living in Seattle doesn't agree with.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
How a politician stands on the Second Amendment tells you how he or she views you as an individual... as a trustworthy and productive citizen, or as part of an unruly crowd that needs to be lorded over, controlled, supervised, and taken care of. — Representative Suzanna Gratia Hupp (TX)
