My generation of kids from that war and the baby boomers who followed us into the 1960s and the Vietnam War era were the last to be drafted and therefore the last actually required to perform our Second Amendment right to bear arms. We didnt think using a gun was something sacred, just something we had to do temporarily. (We didnt call a rifle a gun, of course, and some still remember the vulgar doggerel we had to recite for the platoon sergeant if we did.)

According to WMC, the unidentified homeowner came home and saw the two would-be robbers inside of his home Friday evening. He described the sequence of events to the local news outlet:

I see my house being ransacked and the dog was still going hysterical in the cage. When he saw me he notified the other individual that was with him, hey, they are here.

The two men pulled out their guns while the homeowner grabbed his assault rifle out of the closet and he began to shoot them. Both men died at the scene.

The fatal shooting of an employee at a fast food restaurant on the northwest side last month will not result in criminal charges. Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry has ruled that Indianas self-defense statute clears the person who fatally shot 20-year-old Quiana Toussaint inside the KFC at 71st Street and Michigan Road on May 19.

She said he pushed her to the bed and put a hand down her shorts. In a subsequent interview, the affidavit continued, Corter wept and told police he basically forced her to do something she didnt want to do, and should not be forgiven.

He allegedly tried to rape the woman, Fox 13 in Memphis reported, but she broke free, giving herself a black eye in the struggle. She told investigators she kneed Corter in the groin and got to a pistol she kept in the bedroom.

Prosecutors will not charge the man who fired 16 shots from his car in November, killing a driver on State Road 60, despite the fact the victim wasn't armed, according to records obtained by TCPalm.

"Stand your ground (law) eliminated a need to retreat when youre in a place other than your home," Assistant State Attorney Steve Gosnell said about the decision not to file charges, made this week after a six-month investigation.

A Democratic proposal to ban the sale of semi-automatic guns that resemble military weapons failed to clear a Senate committee in Delaware on Wednesday amid strident opposition from gun rights advocates.

The bill failed to get enough votes from committee members after a hearing before a standing-room-only crowd in the Senate chamber, where opponents outnumbered supporters by about 7-to-1.

Democratic Gov. John Carney called for the ban on so-called assault weapons after the February shooting at a Florida high school that left 17 people dead.

Prosecutors have decided not to file charges in the shooting death of a Des Moines man.

Police say 40-year-old Jerry Goff was fatally shot early Sunday morning at a residence west of downtown Des Moines.

Polk County Attorney John Sarcone says the shooting was domestic in nature and a "clear case of self-defense." Authorities have not released the name of the person who shot Goff nor provided details on what led up to it.

The case against a Wyoming man charged with voluntary manslaughter in the November 2017 shooting death of his roommate has been dismissed.

KGAB-AM reports that the Laramie County District Attorney's Office filed a motion to drop its case against Cody Hess, of Cheyenne, citing a lack of evidence. The motion was signed by District Court Judge Steven Sharpe on Monday.

Hess was arrested on Nov. 14 after calling 911 to report that he'd shot and killed his roommate, 35-year-old Michael Robbins.

I understand wanting a small number of guns for hunting or self-defense, but huge caches and assault type weapons make no sense. I dont think they would succeed in defending ourselves from our own government, nor that that is needed. No cache of assault weapons and ammunition for a regulated militia can defeat the US military.

Laws allowing civilians to legally purchase military grade weapons are outrageous and disgraceful. The men and women in government who refuse to enforce sensible gun safety regulations are morally bankrupt. Weapons that are specifically designed to kill massive numbers of people with brutal speed should be contained to the battlefield. The fact that they have made it into the classroom is a national disgrace.

I would encourage students on both sides of the gun debate in Sequim and elsewhere to get together and come up with their ideas on how to solve this out-of-control slaughter that is occurring in our schools and elsewhere.

Firearms regulation is not about taking away your right to keep and bear arms as defined by the Second Amendment.

None of the common-sense regulations that I have seen proposed prohibits a law abiding citizen from exercising the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

The two Republicans running for governor are fighting again over guns. Both Casey Cagle and Brian Kemp have endorsements from second amendment groups. But Cagle has found a vote that, he claims, shows Kemp is soft on gun rights.

Fifteen years ago, Democrats still ran the state Capitol. And back then, two Republicans serving in the state Senate were Casey Cagle and Brian Kemp.

In March 2003, a bill came up in the Senate to loosen gun restrictions during declared states of emergency. Cagle voted to allow a floor vote. Kemp voted to table the gun bill, preventing it from coming to a vote.

Kaitlin Bennett, the Kent State University graduate who found Internet fame by carrying an AR-10 around campus after graduation, has challenged Parkland shooting survivor and gun control advocate David Hogg to arm wrestle.

Bennett tweeted at Hogg on Sunday, the day he graduated from Marjory Stoneman Douglas, where 17 people died in a mass shooting at the school in February. Four of the victims would have graduated on Sunday.

Gun shows do not belong at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Time is running out and soon they will be gone.

The organizers are looking for a new site because the board which runs the state-owned fairgrounds has signaled that it may raise the minimum age to enter the gun show and prohibit sales of some items. The California Department of Justice (DOJ) is investigating the lack of an eligibility certificate for the actual producers and organizers of the Crossroads of the West Gun Shows.

The First Amendment does not require the fair board to rent to gun shows. The Second Amendment does not require the state to permit the sale of guns wherever the seller wishes.
