Backers say sportspeople support it to raise more money to protect the resource.

A Missouri firm specializes in destroying guns seized by hundreds of police department and selling some of the parts. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Gunbusters uses a machine that resembles a paper shredder on steroids to convert most of the guns to scrap metal. It provides the service to police free and makes its money valuable components of the firearms. The company was founded by former St. Louis police lieutenant Raymond Reynolds, who came up with the idea after seeing how many guns his department had to destroy. Gunbusters uses a detailed process for documenting the destruction of the guns in case there are ever questions raised.

The bill is Act 562, regularly referred to as the campus carry law. The original sponsor of the bill was Rep. Charlie Collins, a Republican from Springdale. Act 562 has become the subject of increased conversation since a shooting July 1 in Little Rock that left 28 wounded. KNWA sat down with Collins to discuss the bill in light of the recent shooting.

For years, an armed police officer has overseen Prescott City Council meetings, guarding the dais throughout the meetings. But at least two council members are now questioning whether that is enough protection. In a study session discussion this past week, City Councilman Greg Lazzell and Mayor Pro Tem Jim Lamerson questioned staff about the city’s policy that requires them to leave their deadly weapons in a locker that is located at the entrance to city hall.

Okay, okay! We get that you want a parts list all in one place for our recent MSR/AR rifle build. We concede the delay here is our fault: We’ve been distracted by shooting the “Maneuverable” MSR (otherwise known as Light/Short) just to make absolutely, completely, totally, positively sure that all was well.

A federal judge in San Diego on Thursday temporarily blocked California’s ban on ammunition magazines that hold more than ten cartridges, issuing a preliminary injunction against a law that would have taken effect Saturday, while he examines details of a lawsuit filed by the California Rifle & Pistol Association, the Sacramento Bee reported.

This could create an interesting conflict because only a few hours earlier, a different federal judge in Sacramento had decided against plaintiffs in a similar
law.

As a middle-American hotbed for sports and guns, Kansas has made national headlines as the governor signed into law a bill that goes into effect Saturday, which allows staff and students to carry firearms on public college campuses, which in essence are an extension of the state. Of course, the new law has spurred a series of epic ocean waves comprised of vehement protest and dissent crashing through the news cycle, first among faculty and now trickling down to the rancid tidal pool of journalists intertwining leftist ideology and politics into feature stories. What is new?

California politicians' attempts to strengthen some of the nation's strictest gun laws suffered two setbacks this week — the latest when a federal judge blocked a law set to take effect Saturday barring gun owners from possessing ammunition magazines holding more than 10 bullets. They present new challenges for freshman state Attorney General Xavier Becerra, who took office in January. He's running his first statewide campaign as he seeks re-election next year to the post he now holds by appointment after his predecessor was elected to the U.S. Senate.

A bill to allow school personnel to bring firearms with them to school as a security measure may have been passed by the state Senate, but senators representing Delaware County unanimously voted against it. Sens. Anthony Williams, D-8 of Philadelphia, Tom Killion, R-9 of Middletown, Daylin Leach, D-17 of Upper Merion and Tom McGarrigle, R-26 of Springfield, all voted no on Senate Bill 383 Thursday. The measure would allow school districts to create a policy permitting teachers and other staff to have access to firearms on school grounds. Personnel would have to maintain a license to carry a concealed firearm and maintain a current and valid certificate from selected training programs in the use and handling of a firearm.

For school-aged youth, access to a gun can increase their risk for becoming a victim of or for committing a violent crime, including suicide and homicide. It also increases a child’s risk of experiencing an unintentional injury or death. Youth may gain access to guns in school, friends’ homes or other settings. No matter the source, gun access can increase the chances of an adolescent being involved in an injury or crime.

There is a reason why America has about as many guns as people, and it's not because millions are terrified of a home invasion or fear drug gangs crossing the Rio Grande. It is a reason "anti-gunners" seldom acknowledge, but it helps explain the rejection of seemingly reasonable firearm safety laws.

Exactly one year after it went into effect, an Idaho gun law that allows people to carry concealed firearms without a permit has had little effect on crime rates, state law enforcement officials said. It has, however, impacted the number of Idaho concealed carry permits being issued, some firearm trainers said. The law allows most residents age 21 or older to carry concealed guns without a permit inside Idaho’s cities, in bars and in most government buildings.

I can’t put it more eloquently:

“The Constitution does not rank certain rights above others, and I do not think this Court should impose such a hierarchy by selectively enforcing its preferred rights. Second Amendment rights are no less protected by our Constitution than other rights enumerated in that document. The Court has not heard argument in a Second Amendment case in over seven years—since March 2, 2010, in McDonald v Chicago. Since that time, we have heard argument in, for example, roughly 35 cases where the question presented turned on the meaning of the First Amendment and 25 cases that turned on the meaning of the Fourth Amendment."
