The roots of the Ruger Bisley go back to the 1st Generation Colt Single Actions from which the original Bisley came. When the Colt Single Action first appeared in 1873, we were in our Frontier Period. However, by the 1890s, the frontier was pretty well conquered and Western expansion had reached the Pacific. Firearms began to be more than a life-saving requirement and were starting to have much more of a sporting and target use. Names like Walter Winan and Ira Chevalier Paine began to become widely known as target shooters.

One of the most-commonly asked questions about deer rifles regards the amount of recoil. Nobody – who is being honest, at least – enjoys getting pummeled. Generally speaking, larger rounds have more knockdown power on game, but they also pack more foot-pounds of recoil energy into the shooter’s shoulder. On bigger game, that’s a necessary trade-off, but on thinner-skinned deer, low-recoiling choices are plentiful.

When it comes to medium to large game hunting, two rifle cartridges stand out from the rest, 308 Winchester and 243 Winchester.

These two rifle cartridges offer a wide variety of ammo to meet your needs for varmint hunting. From Pronghorn to prairie dogs to antelope to Whitetail deer, no varmint is safe from the 243 Winchester or the 308.

A Lauderhill, Fla., man acted in self-defense when an alleged intruder forced his way into a residence on May 15, 2022. Around 11 p.m. that Sunday evening, two residents were inside the home when an intruder climbed through a window. The stranger then produced a firearm, spurring once of the residents to dial 911 before quickly hanging up. The resident also managed to arm himself, and exchanged gunfire with the would-be robber inside the home.

The 5th Circuit Considers Whether the Trump Administration Was Legally Authorized To Ban Bump Stocks

Three years ago, a federal ban on "bump-stock-type devices" took effect, transforming otherwise law-abiding owners of such firearm accessories into felons overnight. Despite its severe and startling consequences, that ban was never approved by Congress. It was unilaterally imposed by the Trump administration, which expanded the statutory definition of "machinegun" to include bump stocks and rifles equipped with them.

Some 80 years ago this month, a scratch force of Marines waded ashore on a little-known island in the Pacific, with their beloved '03s in hand, determined to stop the Rising Sun. Some eight months after Pearl Harbor was attacked, and long after Wake Island, Guam, and the Philippines fell to the Japanese onslaught during World War II, the Allies in the Pacific moved to seize the initiative and launched the first Allied land offensive in the Theater as well as the first American amphibious assaults of the war.

The Second Amendment Foundation filed a motion for summary judgment in a federal lawsuit in Minnesota, challenging that state’s ban on concealed carry by young adults between the ages of 18 and 21, alleging the ban violates the Second and 14th Amendment rights of those citizens. The lawsuit was filed in U.S District Court for the District of Minnesota. The case is known as Worth v. Harrington.

In the past several years, there has been an escalation in scrutiny of law enforcement-involved uses of force. This has, inevitably, put many episodes of civilian self-defense shootings in the spotlight as well. While a thorough review of all law enforcement involved force is warranted, it is obvious that many incidents, which have proven completely justified, have been the focus of politically motivated outbursts. Most often, this syndrome involves police officers, but there have also been cases of citizens receiving significant public attention in the wake of a defensive gun use.

What Economists Can’t Tell You About the Costs of Gun Violence

It does not take an economist to tell you that gun violence imposes a tremendous economic burden every year, or that lawful gun ownership is largely not to blame for the bulk of it. To any extent that lawful gun ownership does facilitate the costs of gun violence, it offers an equally significant protective value in the form of crime interference and deterrence, as well as through the economic value of a lawful multi-billion-dollar industry.

Review: Smith & Wesson Shield Plus In 30 Super Carry

Before we dive headfirst into the morass that is the 30 Super Carry debate, let’s start with something (slightly) less controversial: Smith & Wesson’s Shield Plus is a supremely good pistol. Building on the success of the standard Shield and updated M2.0 versions, the Shield Plus kept critical dimensions similar to allow most gear designed for the Shield to work for the Shield Plus. That’s smart. Like, really smart. Rather than design a micro-9 mm double-stack pistol from the ground up, Smith & Wesson took a long look at its popular Shield and made the necessary changes. End result? A pistol with 10+1-round capacity with the flush-fit magazine and 13+1-round capacity with an extended variant.

On July 15, 2022, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton amended the complaint filed in federal court against the Attorney General, Merrick Garland, in the Texas lawsuit against the ATF. The complaint challenges the constitutionality of the NFA and the Gun Control Act of 1968 to regulate privately made silencers/suppressors/gun mufflers made and kept in Texas.

The Supreme Court’s landmark decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen did a lot more than just strike down New York state’s concealed carry law. It changed the legal landscape for gun laws across the country. With that change, many gun control laws are now on life support. But the real question is — which ones are doomed?

After violent unrest and looting in 2020 that Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot admitted had “spread like wildfire” throughout parts of Chicago, the mayor nonetheless “urged Chicagoans not to take matters into their own hands in this concealed carry state. ‘Do not pick up arms and try to be police. If there’s a problem, call 911,’ she said. ‘We will respond.’” Chicago residents, it seems, have little reason to believe her.

In an unusual analysis by Washington Post Congressional Bureau Chief Paul Kane, Democrats now have a glimmer of hope “that they can limit some of their potential losses and outperform expectations, especially in statewide races for the U.S. Senate and governorships.” All they must do is run on “culture war” issues: gun control and abortion.

At least 54 people were shot in Chicago over the weekend, half of them in just 12 hours late Friday and early Saturday. At least eight people died from their wounds, including a man killed in a drive-by shooting in a South Loop parking lot and a rider fatally shot on a Red Line train in Chatham on the South Side.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom. — John F. Kennedy
