An accused burglar who fell through the roof of a Janesville home and was shot is now suing the homeowner who shot him.

Kurt Prochaska was arrested last October and charged with burglary, WISC-TV reported.

The homeowner, Michael Rainiero, said he shot Prochaska after he refused to leave the house.

Prochaska's lawsuit claimed Rainiero used excessive force and that he intentionally shot him in the back, trying to sever his spinal cord.

The Rock County district attorney believed Rainiero acted in self-defense and never pursued charges against him.

Orlando police will pay $2,500 for information that will help find a rifle recently stolen from an officer's patrol car.

Police said someone broke into the car parked in a subdivision located off North Lane near Pine Hills Road early Monday and took an AR-15 rifle.

The rifle was in a locked mounted rack and it was the only item taken from the vehicle.

Anyone with information concerning the incident is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.

Governor Mitch Daniels supports the Department of Natural Resources decision to allow handguns in Indiana's state parks. The rule change announced Thursday eliminates the restriction against handguns.

Hunters and other visitors with valid gun licenses to carry them on DNR properties. Daniels says he believes in the Bill of Rights and the second amendment right to bear arms.

"The right of licensed and law abiding citizens that exists everywhere else, I don't think they should forfeit it when they come to a state park," said Daniels.

Daniels is scheduled to speak Friday to a statewide meeting of the National Rifle Association. The timing of the rule change is a coincidence, Daniels said.
