"Gov. Rick Scott will allow guns at the Republican National Convention this August."

"Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn had asked the governor to prohibit the carrying of guns during the convention."

"Buckhorn said because Florida law bans cities from passing any local laws pertaining to firearms, he wrote a letter to Scott, asking the state to temporarily suspend that law during the convention."

"The mayor said city officials believe it's necessary to ban guns, including those carried with a state concealed weapons permit."

"In the letter, Buckhorn said '...in the potentially contentious environment surrounding the RNC, a firearm unnecessarily increases the threat of imminent harm and injury ...'" ...

Since when does an "executive order" cancel a law?

Great letter by Scott.

The very idea that he had the legitimate authority to circumvent state law was an obnoxious Democrat proposition to begin with.

Apparently they believe in "living laws" as well as a "living constitution".

It must suck for them to encounter a governor who respects both.

Americans have the right and advantage of being armed - unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. — James Madison, The Federalist Papers No. 46 at 243-244.
