"Hunting is a major sport in Arkansas, especially in the 1st and 4th congressional districts of its eastern and southern regions, which may explain why voters there see guns as a major issue in the race."

"A new poll for the Arkansas News Bureau and Stephens Media Group found that 60 percent of voters think a candidate's stand on gun rights is important in deciding how to vote in the presidential race. Thirty-nine percent said it is 'very important,' and 21 percent said it is 'somewhat important.'"

"Seventeen percent said it is 'not too important' and 22 percent said it is 'not at all important.'" ...
-------

Submitter's Note: Of course we all know that the Second Amendment isn't about hunting!

IMHO we are losing the debate on firearms if the only reason we can come up with to talk about is hunting.

Nearly as many animals are taken with Bows and Arrows as guns and guns are NOT a necessity for hunting. They ARE a necessity for self defense and tyranny prevention!

Hmmm, they'll limit us to bows and arrows since that's all we really need to hunt.

Of course only government and criminals will retain firearms. Where've I heard that before?

What's a "real" American to do? The buffalo are all gone...

Another thought: regardless of what our wonderful government tells us, it is very doubtful that "terrorist threats" will take place. The resident Muslim community knows full well that result of ANY Beslan attack will result in EVERY Mosque will become an INSTANT killing ground. Now convince me this is NOT why there have been no Stateside attacks since 9/11.

I am 66 years young I used to hunt but since 1980 I quit. My guns are now for self-defense and state.
Our founding fathers envisioned a nation wherein law abiding citizens shared in the responsibility of maintaining law and order by providing for their own defense.
Only two states, Vermont and Alaska has neither a permit nor a licensing system they are only states that respects the right to bear arms. Their law prohibits carrying with intent to commit a crime, but does not prohibit carrying for self-defense. Since even "shall issue" licensing systems constitute a prior restraint upon our right. NICS Background Check is "Guilty until proven Innocent”.
