"First and foremost, congratulations and thanks to the Youngstown State University Police department for their diligent work in finding the student carrying a gun on campus on Monday. ..."
"To the rest of the campus community, let's talk common sense. Second Amendment rights deserve the same respect as any other amendment. Having said as much, guns have no place on a college campus."
"Period. End of discussion." ... -------
Submitter's Note: Actually that wasn't a "discussion", it was an unsupported theory masquerading as self-evident fact used to squelch debate or discussion. |

"To the rest of the campus community, let's talk common sense. Second Amendment rights deserve the same respect as any other amendment. Having said as much, guns have no place on a college campus."
If the 2A is equal to the 1A, and the 2A has no place on campus, are you also saying that the 1A has no place on campus?
"(I'm right, you're wrong) Period. End of discussion."
Yep, in your little mind, 1A doesn't belong on campus either. I'm glad we cleared that up. Do you feel the same about the rest of the Constitution? Should it all be banished when I walk onto the university grounds? |

The author dances around an issue, repeadedly implying that one who carries a gun is deranged and will not debate, negotiate, or deal reasonably with conflict.
However, the author fails to come out and actually cite a truth: some people can't be reasoned with. Some will choose force over persuasion, imposition of their will over the freedom of others.
The rational person prepares for those people. It is those against whom the gun will be used. We tried negotiation with Hitler. It got us to WWII.
We negotiated a peace with North Vietnam... it got us the killing fields after our withdrawal.
We negotiated a cease fire with North Korea... we have a despotic dictator starving his citizens and developing nuclear weapons. |

| XQ, I thought the author was a living demonstration of the idea that some people cannot be reasoned with. |
