When Timothy Stopczynski appears in Macomb County Circuit Court on Tuesday for sentencing, the former Eastpointe police detective will likely face up to a 90-day jail sentence for his part in a scheme that saw the department's forfeiture items, including wheels and rims, sold on Craigslist.
Stopczynski, 41, a narcotics officer who worked for the Eastpointe Police Department for 14 years, took tires, rims, slot machines and other items from the department's forfeiture shed and gave them to a confidential informant to fence during the last couple of years, authorities have said. |
