"The civilian panel that oversees conduct within the Los Angeles Police Department has frequently been misled by incomplete reports of officer-involved shootings, the Los Angeles Times reported Sunday."
"Among the findings: Reports to the Los Angeles Police Commission have routinely left out information, including statements from witnesses who claimed police fired upon suspects without being provoked, as well as evidence that contradicted officers' claims of shooting in self-defense." ...
"The commission ruled the use of force was reasonable and justified in at least 28 shootings - 15 of them fatal - without having knowledge of all the evidence, according to the newspaper's investigation." ... -------
So the police regularly lie to the 'civilian' panel that they claim is a check on their use of force. But I'm sure that if Sarah and her ilk get their way, the cops would be more forthcoming. |

I don't know about LA - and they are a mess, but I've been in court and heard strings of "witnesses" testify that an "innocent" was accosted by an officer for no reason. Those "witnesses" conflicted to the point of absurdity (sorry, the officer in question was not white as you describe but black - I'm sorry, the officer you are accusing was not working that day ...) I'd hate to have my fate decided by a group of folks that tend to be anti-cop or weighing discredited witnesses statements against me. |
