"The time is now to tackle the issue of illegal gun trafficking."

"With the senseless tragedies in Aurora, Colo., and now, Oak Creek, Wis., a national conversation has been taken up on gun violence and common-sense changes to save lives."

"We can respect the Second Amendment and still repair our nation’s broken gun laws." ...
-------

Submitter's Note: And how is "illegal gun trafficking" relevant to these two shootings which were carried out with lawfully purchased weapons?

It's pretty simple. Enforce the laws on the books and we won't need any others. They won't do it because then they'd find out the gun laws really aren't broken.

NJ is infamous for its local prosecutors not seeking enforcement of violations federal gun laws. Or for co-operating with outside efforts seeking to enhance enforcement of these laws. OTOH, NJ is equally infamous for its draconian infliction of its often arcane gun law upon law-abiding citizens innocently/inadvertently caught in their web.

Listening to these mayors' complaints when I know the state, hence these municipalities, are aware of "straw trafficking", their own prosecutors seem declined to pursue because it means surrendering the case to the feds seems, (to me), grandstanding for ink. >MW
