Madison County voters overwhelming approved a measure securing it as a Second Amendment sanctuary county for law abiding gun owners.

The referendum passed by a margin of 67 to 33 percent.

It read, “Shall Madison County become a sanctuary county for law abiding gun owners to protect them from unconstitutional gun laws passed by the Illinois General Assembly?”

TITLE 18, U.S.C., SECTION 242
Whoever, under color of any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom, willfully subjects any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both. The Constitution requires that all members of Congress must take an oath of office to support the Constitution before assuming office. The People of America have never authorized their elected representatives to destroy their Bill of Rights. Citizens must demand that their elected officials be bound by the chains of the Constitution.

For the first time in my life, I am proud of my county.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.... We've been tempted to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people. Well, if no one among us is capable of government himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else? All of us together, in and out of government, must bear the burden. The solutions we seek must be equitable, with no one group singled out to pay a higher price. — Ronald Reagan
