"Mayor Daley wants to raise $1 million to buy back guns and remove them from Chicago streets, but the latest in a string of corporate fund-raisers got off to a slow start." ...

"The value of gun buy-back programs came under question this week at a City Council hearing."

"Dr. Carl Bell, president and CEO of the Community Mental Health Council and Foundation Inc., argued that turn-in programs don't reduce gun violence because 'the guns they buy back don't work in the first damn place.'"

What can a person say? The mayors of NYC, DC, Chicago, etc. will openly defy the SC Heller decision until contempt charges are brought to bear (not bare) on these people. If you haven't bought guns & ammunition at this point, you face an uphill struggle now. You will eventually be priced out of the market. Have a nice day.

How about a "fertility buy-back" to spay all of those predator-producing welfare brood mares and illegal alien baby factories? Here is a real "crimestoppers" program worthy of support by public-minded wealthy citizens.

A $1,000 check and a gift certificate to a local rap music store seems to be a small price in comparison to that of arresting or incarcerating the spawn of such individuals.

REMEMBER:

The sequence will be, virtually without exception:

1. City, state and/or federal registration of firearms.
2. One, or a few attempted buy-backs of firearms, and maybe an amnesty period thrown in.
3. Confiscation
4. Destruction

WHEN a city has 1. and 2. in place, 3. is likely NEXT. Collectively, in a republic, we always have THREE enemies; the criminals, terrorists and those who support and would do 3. and 4. above.

Daley’s has got to be the biggest arse in Illinois!

1 Million dollars and he’s going to buy all the guns in Chicago. Did you read the comments section where a poster said that Daley has one of those special permits to conceal carry?

Everyone thinks Illinois has no conceal carry but that’s not true there’s special ways to get the right to conceal carry in Illinois but its only for the elite/crooks.

I've read all Chicago aldermen & alderwomen have "legal" concealed carry. If true, this is elitist.

I heard a rumor that private detectives could get concealed carry.

As Dr. Suzanna Hupp said at the 2nd Amendment Freedom rally in Chicago, we better not get may-issue, and shall-issue moves-the-bar, and when you can move the bar, you move the bar. We really want Vermont & Alaska style concealed carry - no oppression from the police for honest concealed carry.

sounds like he, Daley, is the one with a problem
Dr. Carl Bell, president and CEO of the Community Mental Health Council and Foundation Inc., argued that turn-in programs don't reduce gun violence because "the guns they buy back don't work in the first damn place."

Turn in a gun and get a $ 100 prepaid debit card?! Even the cheapest floozie has more self-respect than that. I wouldn't turn in my Rugers for the promise of everlasting life, let alone a cheap debit card. Even Cub fans aren't THAT idiotic.

Seems to me, Daley is trying every tactic and dodge he possibly can, trying to get "illegal" guns off the streets, before the city's ban is overturned.

Daley does not give a damn about buying back guns, he want the liberal press to say he is fighting crime and get enough dumbasses to vote for him next election. And unless a miracle happens, enough dumbasses will vote for him.
