"What's faster than a speeding bullet? Bullet sales."

"'The Washington Post' is reporting on record breaking amounts of cash being spent this year on guns and ammunition."

"Industry officials report gun owners have purchased about 12-billion rounds of ammunition this year."

"That amounts to 38 bullets for every American."

"Sales in a normal year would be about seven-billion bullets."

"The sales boom, which has exceeded bullet-makers capacity to produce the product, began just before the election of President Obama."

"The gun-rights lobby claimed a Democratic administration would clamp down on weapons sales beginning with ammunition." ...
-------

Submitter's Note: The Democratic administration also claimed they would clamp down on weapons sales.

If concealed carry permits are up dramatically, and gun sales are brisk, then why would you not expect bullet and ammo sales to go up? My sense is the primary driving force for this great stimulation of the economy is due to the poor economy and the decidedly ant-gun stance of the current administration, mainly the latter. If you try to attribute the gun and ammo "surge" to the poor economy and increasing crime, you will have to account for the fact that in many areas where gun ownership and concealed carry are high, violent crimes are DOWN. You are left with perhaps the most anti-gun administration in history as the primary driving force, and great stimulus to the American economy. Change we can live with!

Yep, our Leftist "betters" have indeed noticed that a HUGE chunk of the population is enthusiastically practicing the old Roman motto 'Si vis pacem, para bellum', & the realization of what such an act portends for their plans to "re-make" America is scaring/infuriating them no end. And it's quite revealing to see how silent those on the Right who claim to be staunch supporters of the 2A (like Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly, Gingrich, & similar) are about this massive (& so far non-violent) warning to Emperor Obama & his sycophants that use of govtl force to manifest their vision will have unpleasant consequences.

And here's a question that automatically occurs given the content & tone of stories like the above: Is the author claiming that the lack of handgun/rifle/shotgun ammunition is being caused by an enormous spike in sales of projectiles?
