~An interesting perspective on getting a concealed carry permit, by Laura Berman of The Detroit News, especially her #10:
"Once you get that long-awaited permit ... you might want to stay low-key about the whole gun thing. As one fellow permit applicant warned, if you brag about firearms and then get into any sort of trouble, prosecutors might then try to portray you in court as a "gun nut." So, shhhhh." |

Excuse me, but am I to be relegated to insignificance for having great issue with offering up of one's biometric data, successfully demonstrating one's knowledge and skill as well as sacrificing payment to supplicate PERMISSION to excercise an INALIENABLE right? Or am I expected, once knighted with the coveted CWP, to assume the obligatory "low-key" cower in the dire hope the monster will eat me last? I can't believe it: sheep with guns. |

Laura Berman is a freedom hating witch who earlier this year wrote that she had never heard of a single instance of a firearm being used to defend someone.
Even after being deluged with first hand accounts of self-defense, she still wouldn't budge. I sent her the description of three separate self-defense situations in which I had personally been involved, and her e-mail response was that maybe I shouldn't be in the type of places that require a weapon.
What a class act. NOT. |

It's interesting to see that the attitude that undergirded the original passage of Michigan's discretionary concealed-carry system in the first place is still alive and well in the heart of Laura Berman. Only this time it's "we can't trust camo-wearing rednecks with guns" instead of the original "we can't trust niggers with guns."
Can we trust a bigoted, criminal-advocate Laura Berman with a column in a major newspaper?

TO REMEMBER |
| There are other things so clearly out of the power of Congress, that the bare recital of them is sufficient, I mean the "...rights of bearing arms for defence, or for killing game..." These things seem to have been inserted among their objections, merely to induce the ignorant to believe that Congress would have a power over such objects and to infer from their being refused a place in the Constitution, their intention to exercise that power to the oppression of the people. —ALEXANDER WHITE (1787) |
