SC: Domestic violence survivor: 'Legislation could save lives'

If Governor Haley signs a domestic violence reform bill, people convicted of the crime in South Carolina could face harsher punishments and have their guns taken away.

One domestic violence survivor told WTOC that, if passed, the legislation will save lives.

“I was strangled, I did think that I was going to die in that moment. Strangulation is one of the most lethal forms of abuse. When someone is being strangled, the abuser is the power to control that victim's next breath," victim Anna Zweede said.

Pardon me, madam, but exactly WTF does somebody, who isn't me, choking you without intent to kill have to do with violating MY right to armed self defense?

Is your attempt to connect the unconnectable simply another way to give evidence that you have mental problems? The fact that you involved yourself in an abusive relationship is the first such evidence.

Dear Mickey, first of all, you only saw a portion of my interview. There was the intent to kill (not that it matters). And, this was done to me by an ex of 6 years (not that it matters). Fact: SC is #2 in the nation of women killed by men...most of those killed are by guns. Being abused is not the fault of the victim, but the fault of the abuser. Being a victim does not mean you are mentally ill. And, no one is trying to take your guns away. If you want to keep your guns, don't abuse your partner/break the law. It is already federal law anyway. So, please do your research before victim blaming. If you would like more education on the matter, I would be happy to discuss. But again, don't abuse and you have no worries about losing your gun.

And, just another tid bit of education for you, so you can use your terms correctly..."choking" is a blocking of the airway by food or an object. Strangulation is a constriction of the neck/throat to cut off blood flow and oxygen. Just so you know. Again, I'm here if you would like further education.
