CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- "The mother of a 14-year-old who accidentally shot his friend in the leg Tuesday afternoon was cited Wednesday for not having a secured firearm."
"Police said the teenager was showing off a gun to three of his friends at his home on North Vicksburg Park Court in southwest Charlotte."
"The teen shot the gun once to prove to his friends that it was real, but then the gun jammed and went off again, police said, hitting a 17-year-old in the leg near his ankle."
"The shooting victim was taken to Carolinas Medical Center. His injuries were not life-threatening." |

| You know I have a .50/.44 Desert Eagle and when I went to go visit my parents, the first thing I did is told my 14 yr old brother, "I catch you playing with it and I will beat your ***" Maybe thats what parents need to do. Of course to satisfy his curiosity I showed it to him and told him how it operates with safety first. |

TO REMEMBER |
| "Let us contemplate our forefathers, and posterity, and resolve to maintain the rights bequeathed to us from the former, for the sake of the latter. The necessity of the times, more than ever, calls for our utmost circumspection, deliberation, fortitude, and perseverance. Let us remember that `if we suffer tamely a lawless attack upon our liberty, we encourage it, and involve others in our doom.' It is a very serious consideration...that millions yet unborn may be the miserable sharers of the event." --Samuel Adams, speech in Boston, 1771 |
