"Today Chuck Canterbury, the President of the nation's largest police labor organization, called on John Kerry to stop making misleading statements regarding his support from the law enforcement community. Both on the campaign trail and in Wednesday night's debate in Tempe, AZ, Senator Kerry has alluded that he has the support of the majority of these brave men and women." ...

"Canterbury also said it was the height of irony that Kerry would use his position on the reauthorization of the assault weapons ban as a reflection of his support from police."

"'First, if a police officer is killed by an AK-47, Kerry would oppose the death penalty for the killer,' Canterbury said. "In addition, where was he when this issue was being discussed in the 108th Congress?'" ...

You know, I don't think it will make one whit of difference, who gets president, Bush or Kerry. I will keep my AR-15, and my AK-47 either way I will either be grandfathered, or they will COME AND TAKE IT. It doesn't matter to me. Actually, I kinda wish they WOULD come and take it..

Is anybody with me?

I'm with you livefree for I also have a knockoff of the AK-47. If it comes to that I'll be the first one standing by your side.

Not many are with you livefree. Forget the implications that you are ready for a revolution. No significant national gun control has come along in the last 10 years. Gun owners are making slow and steady progress in the states in turning our situation around peacefully. You will do us more good if you help elect Bush to stop Kerry, support conservatives in congress, and help us all in writing letters, donating to pro-gun groups like this site, NRA, GOA, SAS, SAF, etc., etc.. Save your AK for a real unavoidable emergency and libertarians stop trying to let in Kerry to try and force us into emergency situations.

Like Ithaca, I seek a peaceful, political return to the freedoms upon which our nation was founded. Like Livefree, I stand prepared to defend those freedoms should political solutions fail. I must assume the "what's your address" posting by Machine was intended to make one realize the possible consequences of such a stand. I believe those who read and post to this site KNOW the possible consequences. 50th Street, Lawrence, Michigan.

As a second comment, I am delighted that the FOP hasn't fallen for Kerry's lies. I was most discouraged when led to believe that a majority of policemen/women supported him. The clarification is a relief. My thanks to Mr. Canterbury. I hope your words spread across the nation.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
"And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling in terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? [...] The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!" —Alexander Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago (Chapter 1 "Arrest")
