A security guard is in custody Thursday after surrendering to authorities to face a murder charge in the shooting of a 19-year-old man.

Dameon Wroe turned himself in to sheriffs in Rancho Cucamonga early Wednesday morning. He faces a second degree murder charge in the New Year's Day shooting.

Wroe claims he shot Michael Krause, Jr. in self-defense. Wroe says Krause tried to run him over after he asked the 19-year-old to move his truck at an apartment complex where he was a security guard.

Prosecutors said evidence shows 32-year-old Wroe did not have a right to self-defense under the circumstances. Prosecutor Joe Gaetano said charging Wroe was a "careful, thoughtful decision."

Wroe is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
