The Kirksville Walmart store was locked down for a period of time Wednesday afternoon, after police received a report of an armed man in the parking lot threatening to harm himself. Just after 2:00 p.m., Kirksville Police were notified by a passerby that there appeared to be a man acting agitated sitting in a pick-up truck with a gun to his head. The store was put on lockdown for a short time. ... The vehicle was approached by police and the driver was detained. It was determined by officers that there was nothing of a criminal nature. No other details are being released at this time. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
As an individual, I believe, very strongly, that handguns should be banned and that there should be stringent, effective control of other firearms. However, as a judge, I know full well that the question of whether handguns can be sold is a political one, not an issue of products liability law, and that this is a matter for the legislatures, not the courts. The unconventional theories advanced in this case (and others) are totally without merit, a misuse of products liability laws. — Judge Buchmeyer, Patterson v. Gesellschaft, 1206 F.Supp. 1206, 1216 (N.D. Tex. 1985) |
