This letter is in reference to a new TV ad that criticizes Republican gubernatorial candidate Chris Christie for siding with the National Rifle Association on “armor-piercing rifles.”

There is no such thing as an armor-piercing rifle. There is armor-piercing ammunition, which is manufactured in many different calibers for many different types of weapons. This ammunition is already banned in the State of New Jersey.

To ban all rifles that have the capability to fire this type of ammunition would, in reality, ban many weapons, hunting rifles included.
