Kinda hard, Mr. Thompson, to see how the laws governing "assault weapons " could be made any more restrictive than they presently are. Since the GCA of 1938 the sale or transfer of every one must be approved by the USG on an individual basis. BTW, what are "assault rifles" ? All the USG, industry and historical definitions all define such a weapon as "lower-powered selective fire arm", not a "rifle".
Regardless of definition(s), these sorts of weapons, ( or semiautomatic ones of similar physical appearance ) are factors in a minority of firearms crime, as documented by the USG. IAC, how do you justify expending a lot of LEO man-hours and tax dollars "policing" arms/owners that "aren't part of the gun crime problem" ? |
