"The U.S. Air Force trained Maj. Dave Panzera how to fire machine guns, and has certified him to carry a gun at work since 1985. Oklahoma, Florida and Arkansas all let him carry a pistol anywhere he went, issuing a concealed weapon permit in no time at all."

"But New York was different. Despite his military service and training, the 38-year-old father of five had to prove to this state that he's an upstanding citizen before he could have a gun." ...

"Panzera did get a permit to own and carry a handgun in New York -- all he had to do was pick the right county. After being denied a 'full carry' permit in Saratoga County, he moved to Schoharie County, where the law is interpreted differently." ...

"Inconsistent application of the law is increasingly common in upstate New York."

That is because upstate New York is increasingly less white.
Its amazing how they ignore the racial component of gun control laws, and yet, take out the word gun and put anything else, and the NAACP, ACLU, NY Times, and every liberal group and politician would be campagining and promising to end the law ASAP.
What a bunch of hypocrites.
More proof that we need guns to protect oursevles from these "liberal, caring" groups.
Wonder if Rev. Al Sharpton has a permit or one of his employees, excuse me, entourage who accompanies him 18 hours a day, 365 a year?

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
The "assault weapon" ban didn't stop the [World Trade Center/Pentagon] terrorists, Brady checks didn't stop them, the high capacity magazine ban didn't. Right to Carry would have. If it had saved only one tower and the people in it, it would have been worth it. GUN CONTROL KILLS. — LTC Stasski, 9/11/01
