The Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence, a group of extreme anti-gun individuals, issued a press release shortly before the Civil & Commercial Law Committee was to convene at 2:30pm Wednesday afternoon. The release detailed their plans to boycott the C&CL sub-committee hearings in light of last week's terrorist attacks.
Ohioans For Concealed Carry has responded with a
detailed press release (.pdf
reader required) outlining our position.
As many of you may know, President George Bush made a request that every American return to their regular lives, plans, and daily duties. We feel that it was both prudent and
necessary for session to be cancelled last week, but to suggest we should allow the terrorists to stop legislation aiming to restore individual liberties is absurd.
It is imperative that the sub-committee continue to give Ohioans the opportunity to be heard on this legislation, but it is also
necessary for the entire General Assembly to move swiftly and pass legislative reform.
Please be sure to take our press release, print it out, and share it with Ohio newspapers and television stations in your home towns. If you wish, you may send a copy to your elected officials as well. Your help in spreading the release is greatly appreciated.
