H&R Block trembled at a 50-store picket line. We intend to picket 200.
H&R Block doesn't comprehend the difference between a pressure group and a grassroots lobby. The anti-gun agitators who threatened the 2002 boycott may be loud, but they have no serious depth or support in American society. Their message had nothing to do with safety -- it had to do with bigotry against gun owners.
The National Rifle Association has over four million members, many of whom feel quite strongly about being treated like social lepers. Our plan is to picket an average of four H&R Block outlets in each state during the first three weeks of February -- H&R Block's busy season. Each of our picketers will be holding a sign letting prospective customers know that H&R BLOCK BREAKS THEIR PROMISES. And each of our picketers will have an ample supply of handouts explaining exactly why we are picketing, and laying out the whole sordid story of H&R Block's contempt for Americans who choose to exercise their guaranteed civil right to own firearms. Our picketers will also be carrying some names and addresses of H&R Block competitors, and asking prospective customers to get back into their cars and patronize these alternative providers rather than to support social bigotry. And since roughly 45% of all American households contain at least one gun, we expect we'll have a significant effect on H&R Block's bottom line. And you can be a part of it.
