Two responses to "Make Handgun Ownership a Crime"

Letter below
by Michael Z. Williamson:

Alan, you clearly don't know which end of a gun to pick up. Why don't you let those of us with experience (15 years Army and Air Force) make the call? That call is: fight back.

The reason police tell you not to resist is twofold: 1) they don't want to be sued if you do and fail, and 2) they need job security.

For your information, the FBI Uniform Crime Reports shows that resisting crime with a firearm is the MOST EFFECTIVE method.

Pop quiz: in 30 seconds, a deranged lunatic is going to break into your back room and commence raping your daughter at knifepoint. Will you

  1. not resist, call 911 (hoping he hasn't cut the cord and that they respond within 20 minutes) while listening to her scream, or
  2. shoot the bastard dead?

Choose either answer, accepting that you are worthless moral filth if you choose (A).

Letter below by Ken Wahl:

It sounds like Alan Donaldson should move back to the UK so he can live in a country where being a victim is public policy. The good chap does me the service of disproving his own argument at the end when he writes:

"Make handgun ownership illegal and we will have a safer nation. Will criminals still have access to handguns? Of course, they will. But fewer humans will die or be hurt if handgun ownership is a crime."

Well since criminals will still have handguns and the law-abiding citizens who refuse to be a victim will not, whose lives are we "saving"? The criminal's, of course. God forbid that a criminal who attempts to murder, rape, or steal be maimed or killed by someone exercising their God-given right to self-defense.

If Mr.Donaldson is intent on living somewhere where the government has outlawed self-defense "for the good of all" then he should move to the UK or Australia where such nonsense is now law and armed home-invasions are on the rise. Go ahead, be sheep. May the chains you've chosen for yourself rest lightly upon your feet. Myself, along with the 83,000,000 other gun owners who have not killed anyone today will wish you farewell and good riddance.

To the other gun-grabbers I ask a single question: are you willing to die for what you believe? I am and so are many other firearm owners who believe that the 2nd Amendment means what it says. We will die to protect the freedom that our forefathers earned for us. We have been patient with your constant encroachments but you have backed us into a corner and we can capitulate no further. We will not be enslaved by your victim mentality. Outlaw freedom and be prepared to lose your life in the bloody civil war that will ensue. Don't say we didn't warn you.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
As civil rulers, not having their duty to the people before them, may attempt to tyrannize, and as the military forces which must be occasionally raised to defend our country, might pervert their power to the injury of their fellow citizens, the people are confirmed by the article in their right to keep and bear their private arms. — Tench Coxe in `Remarks on the First Part of the Amendments to the Federal Constitution' under the Pseudonym "A Pennsylvanian" in the Philadelphia Federal Gazette, June 18, 1789 at 2 col. 1.
