Compromise NOT Acceptable!

From: "D. A. Kensler" <duhwayne@qwest.net>

Subject: Please delete section 1062, compromise is NOT acceptable.

Dear Senator Allard:

At a time when our nation is turning to its armed services to meet a pending crisis, section 1062 of S. 1438, the "demilitarization" section, is a slap in the face of all veterans.

It would allow the government to seize firearms from veterans by paying them the purchase price.

Please use your position as a member of the Armed Services Committee to make sure this provision is deleted from the DOD bill entirely. No compromises allowing the seizures of private firearms are acceptable. A vote for this bill -- if it contains this provision -- is a vote AGAINST the veterans and gun owners of this country. Again, please do not support S. 1438 as long as it contains the "demilitarization" language.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

D. A. Kensler

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
By calling attention to a well-regulated militia for the security of the Nation, and the right of each citizen to keep and bear arms, our Founding Fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny, which gave rise to the second amendment, will ever be a major danger to our Nation, the amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic military-civilian relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of the country. For that reason I believe the second amendment will always be important. --JOHN F. KENNEDY
